Hi ladies, So today is FH's birthday. We are going to dinner tonight at he reception hall and we are planning on signing the contract tonight. Do you ladies have any tips or advice for me? Is there anything you would have done differently? Any questions you wished you asked? I tried doing a search but to no avail. Thanks a bunch ladies!

Make sure you get EVERYTHING is writing. I wish I would have pushed more for 'free' extras.
Where did you decide?

Find out what you can do with your payment schedule. At first, they wanted us to give X amount by X date but it didnt work for us, so I asked if we send X amount monthly will that be okay. We will end up having our minimum paid in 14 months.

Re: Booking hall tonight...any tips/advice?
like the ladies said...GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING
don't take it for granted if they say that certain things are free...cuz that person may wind up leaving and they won't honor what that person said...so make sure they write everything they promise you down
ask if paying everything up until the final payment in cash would do anything...sometimes they're willing to work something out with you (my RH didn't but every place is different)
make sure they let you see the room you'll be using for your reception
if you're unsure about anything they're saying to you..speak up..don't be afraid to ask questions or question what they're saying
good luck and happy birthday to your FH!!!

Re: Booking hall tonight...any tips/advice?
As everyone has said, get everything in writing including:
-Start and end time -Earliest time guests can arrive -Earliest you can arrive to take pictures -Extras (ice scultpures, chair covers, linens, etc) -Price (including tax and gratuity) -Extra accomodations included (i.e hotel room) -Price to extend hours or add any extras (if they are willing to give you a discounted price)
Before you sign make sure you neogigate as much as you can!! Once you sign that contract you must likely wont get a lower price/any extras

Re: Booking hall tonight...any tips/advice?
as they said, get it all in writing.
I went in with a list of questions, like
Is there a free night next door (if it has a hotel that it works with) what is the tip structure who is included in the service charge how many bridal attendants when do we get access to the bridal suite what time could we arrive the day of How many events at one time How much are vendor meals what is the tax and service charge what is your minimum for the hall which menu are you getting
It never hurts to ask about extras, and as the others have said, get it in writing. If its not in the contract, its not part of the agreement
Also, go over, and get in writing, the payment structure, and the cancellation procedure and what happens to deposits if heaven forbid the unthinkable happens
