How far in advance should you book your vendors? I just booked the RH and have so much time to waste.. I feel like I can't do anything else cuz it's so far away

Re: Booking question
I would start booking vendors right away so that you can get the vendor you want without fear that they may be booked, it gives you more time to make payments, also you get this years prices which may be cheaper than next year.

Re: Booking question
I booked my RH over 2 years in advance and my photog about 2 years in advance. If you have the time, why not start looking now for the most important vendors? That way you can get exactly who you want and probably don't have to worry about a vendor you really want being booked up!

Re: Booking question
You can definitly start booking the rest of your vendors. There are many 2010 brides who have already booked many of their vendors. Long Island is crazy, things book up far in advance!

Re: Booking question
your 12 days before my wedding.
i've booked my RH Church DJ and am looking to book my photographer within the next week or so.
After that's done i'll casually look at florsits and see who i like and probably book that too within the next couple of months.
i'm looking to get everything done by the summer EXCEPT look for my dress and BM dresses.

Re: Booking question
Yeah I didn't know if I was crazy booking things already. I'm really only going by one of my friends who is only doing her flowers now.... and she's getting married in May of this year. But thank you for the tips.. I will definitely get a head start on booking the vendors! Yay!

Re: Booking question
I started booking vendors in January of 07, so 16 months before my wedding. SOme you'll be surprised how they already had so many other weddings to do same month as me. NY vendors book up quickly. There are some girls on here who have contacted even hair and make up artists a year or more in advance and they were booked. If you are set on particular vendors then you can start researching them and booking appt's

Re: Booking question
its never to early to start... some popular vendors get booked up more than a year in advance (ex- photographers)

Re: Booking question
Some places have the years that theyre booking for only....right now most of them are only booking for 2009 and 2010 so I think you could start right away if you wanted to. also, it depends if your wedding date falls on a holiday weekend....if it does, you want to book your vendors as soon as you can!!! But otherwise, you have plenty of time

Re: Booking question
I thought it was too early to start but figure its better to get whatever you can out of the way now. Then you can relax more as it gets closer to the day.

Re: Booking question
You def still have time, but I would start sooner than later. This way you can do all your research and book the vendors you want and not feel rushed. remember all the good vendors book up quick!! Good Luck!

Re: Booking question
I would say book as soon as you can, because if you wait until the end of the year or next year, you may get different prices.

Re: Booking question
yeah i agree with everyone else... I am about 2 months before you and I kinda feel like it seems so early to book too much BUT there are many many people who do book early so you may be surprised that vendors will not be available. I know for my RH we did not get out first choice of dates, there were only a couple fri or sat in july to choose from. I only have the RH booked, im looking into photographers now... then next DJ.

Re: Booking question
somebody brought up a great point. Every year a vendors prices go up. Usually a few months into the year it will change, so beginning months now are best. When I booked in 07 most of my vendors between lets say jan-april, i noticed most of their prices went up just a few short weeks after i booked them so i got lucky.
Videographer-his prices went up right after i booked
even RH, i actually booked it the last week they were doing 18%, the week after went up to 20%
Hair and make up-went up about 2 weeks after I booked
And a few other vendors the same thing happened.

Re: Booking question
I would do as much as you can, as soon as you can.
With me, I should have had everything done by now...we're having a year and a half engagement, and FH is refusing to book things on a timely basis. So we haven't even completed all majors yet, and it makes me lose sleep that it's going to be booked by time he wakes up.
So if you can, do it. You'll feel so much better having a full year to just do little detail things.
