Ok, I need to block rooms but Im not sure how many i should block. Is it one room per out of town guest. And do they charge you if they all dont stay. Im confused on how it works. Any advice would be great. Thanks!!!

Re: Booking rooms....
I blocked out 10 rooms (I had to guarantee 10 rooms). I think if you guarantee rooms and they don't get booked, you will get charged for the room. I would call your guests and see who wants a room this way you will know how many to block. The hotel I am using also said that if we book 10 rooms me and FH get our room for free !!!

Re: Booking rooms....
none of the hotels I blocked rooms at charge you if they dont get booked. They just release them 30 days prior. The only Hotel I found that would charge for rooms not booked was the Inn at the Fox Hollow

Re: Booking rooms....
Most places have a minimum amt of rooms you can block so give a call to the hotels your most likely to use. Each hotel has different policies for deposit, # of rooms, etc.

Does anyone know if Danford's charges for rooms we block and don't use?
I just got a quote from them and it seems awfully high, what is the average price for a hotel room?

Re: Booking rooms....
Most hotels will only give you a group rate if you block 10 or more rooms. If you block 20 and only 10 are used, they will just release the un-used back 30 days prior to the wedding.
I would assume that anyone flying in for your wedding will need a room. You can always ask around to get an idea of how many people will be staying. Your bridal party may want to stay also depending on where everyone lives and if you'll be partying in the hotel after the reception.
Edit: Ask around about prices. We blocked rooms at the Huntington Hilton for $130/night and if we have 30 rooms filled, they give us our suite for free.

Re: Booking rooms....
They don't charge you for rooms that don't get booked, what happens is they give a cut off date which is somewhere areound 4-6 weeks before your wedding. By the cut off date if there are rooms that are not booked they are put back into the regular inventory and you are not responsible for the rooms.
