its bad not to book rooms? I am sending a list of about 12 hotels located near LaGuardia Airport, the church and reception hall. I figure people can decide what they want to be closest to. In addition, the prices range from expensive to very inexpensive.
Thanks

I don't think you need to book rooms, if there is NOTHING going on that weekend. If its a prime weekend having a few rooms blocked at different priced hotels won't hurt.
Plus it could save your guests a few extra $$$

Are you having a lot of out-ot-towners? If not, then I don't see a problem. If you are having a lot, I would reserve rooms in at least one place just to be safe. I blocked rooms in two places and half of the people are staying somewhere else cheaper. It can't hurt to be safe- and you're not obligated to fill them if they're not booked.

I agree. There have been plenty of weddings that I've been to where rooms are not blocked but it is nice if there are A LOT of OOT people. Maybe pick a moderate price one and suggest cheaper ones as options if people would like to choose those.

When you do a room block, your guests get a discounted room rate- so, I would arrange for some rooms to be blocked off at the places where you think most people will stay..
Unless you have like a ton of people coming in, 12 hotels is a little excessive. I would just go with 3 and and have one at each price range.
Arranging for a room block is very easy and requires no financial commitment on your part- unless you block a ridic amount of rooms.

Do you mind listing the hotels on your list =) I was thinking of doing the same for my guests!

I think it is a good idea especialy if you have some out of twon guests. I can tell you since you are having your recption at the swan club like me. I have booked the Roslyn Claremont and the WIngate Inn in Garden city. They both gave me reasonable prices and I didn't have to secure the rooms with a credit card. It's cool if there is no obligation for you.
