Booking the band

Original post by jrl0223

Hi everyone. I'm new to the boards but very excited I found them. I've recently booked my ceremony/reception site (the Roslyn Claremont Hotel) and my next focus is the band.

I have two appointments this week with Steven Scott and Hank Lane. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinoins? I'm very wary of booking a band through a company that does not provide the opportunity to see the band play live (neither do showcases or listening shows, nor do they allow clients to peek into another persons wedding, which I can understand).

Then at the end of the week and next week, I will be attending three showcases for Franklin Wayne bands. Has anyone used them?

Does anyone have a rocmmendation for another band that does do showcases?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Booking the band

Definitely dont' book unless you can see them first!

We went with Code Bleu also. We saw them at my cousin's wedding and they were amazing....and then we went to see tham at another showcase just to be sure...and they were amazing again! A woman I used to work with used them for her wedding and when people came back they were raving about the band!
And their prices are pretty good!!

(and that adorable black man who plays in the band is the best! His name is Shell I believe and he is wonderful!!!)

Re: Booking the band

We are using Jump Street from Steven Scott. We were not able to hear them live, but honestly we didn't have time to see many bands (we had to book b/c our wedding was so close) and Steven Scott had a good reputation and good recommendations. Also, we met with the band leader (who was super nice) and I put his name in the contract as a 'must appear.' He also let us see a video of the band (not exactly live) but when I heard it, I understood why many companies don't do that - the sound quality was atrocious.
