You can save a lot of money if you book it yourself. However, I always consult a travel agency first to get ideas and pricing. Then I do research on my own to see if I can get a better price. Most times, you will get a better price.

Well, remember, most travel agents are paid for by the destination, not you, and know things you do not even know to ask for. We are planning a fairly upscale, detailed honeymoon so I would not dare (as if FI wouldn't kill me if I tried) to do without professional advice.
