Do I really need to register for one of these??? If we go to a restaurant, don't they have high chairs and visiting friends/family, can't we use a phone book like our parents use to do?

No... you don't need to register for it yet. We just got one for Christmas and my son was almost 1 year old then. We still have yet to use it. All the restaurants have high chairs. Until they're able to sit up in one, we used the infant carrier. We would put it on the seat in a booth or most highchairs turn over and the carrier sits in it that way.

i keep a fisher price booster in my car just in case. Its safer than phone books
