Boston trip - need reccos

we're heading to boston in a few weeks with another couple. out of the 4 of us, I think only my FH has been there once or twice, so we really don't know much about the city. Right now, we're up for anything, so if you have any restaurant/bar recommendations or fun things to do, please let me know! TIA!

Eat in the North End, pretty much anywhere is delicious italian food, I love Strega, more modern than some of the other, great antipasto and pasta! Then hit up either Mike's Pastry or Modern Bakery for cannoli's/cookies! Easy walk to faneuil hall after and the strip of irish pubs there, like the purple shamrock or bell and hand, can't think of the other names, but on the same block - typical boston irish pubs often have live music. Have fun!

Spent 4 years there in College

Must-see places:

Fanueil Hall / Quincy Market - there are some great little restaurants and shopping

Newbury Street - GREAT shopping!

Definitely go to the original CHEERS (aka the Bull & Finch Pub) on Beacon Ave

Also downtown Boston is great - the Prudential Center and Copley Square

For good Italian food, go to the North End.....and then go to Mike's Pastries for one of the best cannoli's ever

Finally, you MUST go down by the harbor! There are some fantastic seafood restaurants down there!

Have fun!

FH& I did the whale watch-it was the most amazing experience! be forewarned-the ride out to stillwagon bay is rough! SO many people were throwing up it was crazy! We stayed outside the whole time (your hair will blow; hats will blow away) but we couldn't go inside and take the sound of gagging! LOL!

Despite that-seeing the whales were amazing!! We saw a Mom & baby whale-the boat gets so close (safely) and they dive down. I believe it was thorugh Boston Harbor Cruises.

Boston Beer Works at 61 Brookline Avenue is a great lunch spot, and if you guys are into beer, they have some interesting unique brews. Also, its right across from Fenway, so if you're baseball fans you might consider taking a tour.

There was a little gelato place we stopped at in the North End. I can't remember the name, but you will see it. Its modern looking and has great treats!

I also highly recommend the tour of the Sam Adams Brewery. Its really cheap and there's a 'beer tasting' at the end!

At the end of the weekend, we did a tour of the JFK Library and Museum, which is very cool if you're a JFK fan (I'm a huge Jackie fan so I loved it!)
