i heard that the palm house isnt in the best area. most of us live on the north shore (huntington to smithtown) many of the guests work in the city, so if i chose a friday night (cheaper), they have to leave work early, come home to change, go to the church in huntington, then to the reception in brooklyn. pain in the ass! that is why i am thinking if i go w/ the palm house we could hire a bus for those guests that chose not to drive. please give me your input on this. it is pricey, but beautiful. my friend is getting married at flowerfields in july and that is a good 40 minutes from where we live so, i guess an extra 10 minutes or so to the palm house isn't that bad. please help! would love to hear from those that have attended or had a wedding at the palm house. does anyone know of a botanical garden on LI that hosts weddings? how about the mahasset preserve - i saw an advertisement in a bridal magazine.

thanks in advance!

I am from Brooklyn; lived here all my life. I agree that the area around the Botanic Gardens is not the greatest, but it is by no means the worst. The Palm House is beautiful. The Botanic Garden is right next to the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park (which happened to be designed by the same architect who designed Central Park), which may be nice for some pictures. Once you are inside the gardens, you forget what the outside is like. My friend's cousin got married there and the pictures are breathtaking. Go see it and decide for yourself.

Very very pretty. The lace and the buttons up the back are so nice and I especially like the square back. Is it ivory or white?

I also read your earlier post on your ceremony and it certainly sounds beautiful. Congratulations!!

NICKY botanical garden

my decision would be solely based on how i viewed the reception site, the surronding area would not be my focal point. i have never visited the palm house, just saw it in a magazine. i never had a problem traveling or visiting friends in brooklyn and don't think my guests would have any complaints about the area either. not to be rude, but can we stop focusing on this. i would really appreciate some feedback (positive) about their experience w/ the palm house.

thanks!
