Both Kitties!

Both Kitties!

Have tested positive for Hyperthyroidism. They have to go on meds. Max has a heart murmur and we're hoping correcting the thyroid problem will make the heart mumur less severe.

They are 10 now and I'm seriously thinking about pet insurance. Anybody have it for their pets?

I'm kinda bummed that the kitties are getting older. They act like kittens and are the sweetest boys.

fh and i are already getting upset and our oldest is only 2 1/2!!

i don't have pet insurance yet, but i have looked into it and it seems fairly reasonale. actually my vet recommended it to me. it costs about what an annual exam and shots cost for the year and includes all that, so really it is well worth it b/c you're paying that anyway.

Be careful with pet insurance.... many of them do not cover a pre-existing condition. I looked into it when my cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and it was something they don't put in the brochures but when you start asking questions it comes up. Just make sure to ask about everything they cover and what the small print is.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice. I don't think any pet insurance will cover pre-exisiting, but they may cover the blook work that will ensue and any surgeries they may have in the future. Do you have any pet insurance recommendations?

I'm going to surf around and check out some stuff.

I just did a little poking around and one company will not even insure them with hyperthyroidism.
