BOTW QOTD 1/3/2012

Heyyy ladies... sorry I didnt post earlier but have been sick and feeling crappy all day!!

Ok so the QOTD is... what outside influences (FMIL, MOH, BMs, family, websites, etc.), be they good or bad, have affected ur wedding planning so far??

So far, for me, this site has been an amazing outside influence on my planning as well as my mom - shes been soo great helping with everything and being supportive when I freak out lol!! However, bad outside influences on my wedding planning have been people who try to tell us what we should or shouldnt do at our wedding... its our wedding and were gonna do what is best for us not anyone else, but it is soo frustrating and I hate dealing with people like that!

I agree with website has been very helpful and a huge influence. So many things I would have not thought to do before this site. Both families have been helpful but both are overly considered with money. Every time we book something they always want to know if we really need that or if we afford that.

LIW has been great along with all my other 2013 brides!!! Also my family and FH's family have been amazing in helping me plan and giving me ideas.

This site has been the best influence. I found my beautiful RH on here. Then I started chatting with all the helpful brides who have given me so many ideas, find great vendors and just know what to do for someone who went into this blind!

No joke--David Tutera's books. I read them when I got engaged and he influenced me to visualize it all first and that made me realize what's important to me and FH. And, as horrible as it sounds, 2 of my BMs were in a bridal party with a horrid bridezilla. All of their stories about her are my what NOT to do!

LIW has by far been a tremendous influence for smart planning I am obsessed as I'm sure you all are as well. Haven't had any bad influences (except our wallets) yet, but I am sure they will come along as any obstacle will.

This website has been amazing as well as all the ladies on it. The not so positive has been my mom. She's very excited and I get a phone call everyday that I should be doing this I should be looking into that. I'm like mom, relax all my vendors are booked and I have a year to work on my little things.

Hi All, I often feel the opposite. Meaning I find LI website helpful but at times overwhelming because I don't follow all the ideas and abbreviations.
I have friends who always want to give their thoughts and how their weddings went.
On the Mom side, both my mother and mother in law wont put in any input which can also be frustrating. They feel it's our wedding!

I have to admit as well... LIWeddings has been an amazing resource for me! Just from reading past brides' reviews and input has been a tremendous help. I know what to look for and how to explain what it is I am looking for to various vendors. This has definitely been a gem of a find for me!

I agree with the girls on LIW. If I never found this site I would have never met some of the best girls around and I get advice from everyone. You get different opinions and you can vent and be excited with girls who are going through the same thing. My downside is my FMIL who thinks it's her wedding and it's not. She told me that I would prob find another dress if I wait. I mean who says that? Even though I booked and knew what DJ and photographer I wanted she wanted me to use the photographer from her other sons wedding. She had a piece of everything in her head to try to make me do.

My BM I haven't asked all of them yet but the ones I asked are very happy an we all know there's a couple in tht mix who just is negative lol.

This website has definitely been a huge influence in a positive way. However, negative influences would definitely be my grandma and my aunt. They've become debbie downers, and are constantly trying to downplay everything. It doesnt bother me anymore, however its really annoying.

Agreeing with all of my wonderful *2013* ladies in that I'm not sure how I would survive without this site! SOOOO helpful and the best outside influence!
Haven't had many negative influences yet but I'm sure they'll be coming along with more planning.

To help u with the abbreviations if you mouse over the word 'chat' at the top of your screen a menu will pop up and you will see 'chat lingo'. Click that and it will help you. It helped me when I 1st started on the boards.

This site has helped the most. Top be honest I don't really listen to anyone else but the girls on these boards because they have so much info. It's like i can compare 10 vendors all at once so why bother? I don't thinkt hat my mom liked that I picked out my dress at POB because they wree going out of business and I bought it on a whim without her. But I am having a reception gown so she's happy to pick that out with my which is cool! So far so good but I do loooooooove this site!!

I think fh has been a great help in planning. Also cheeky glam has been my lifesaver from referrals to talking me out of panic, I adore those girls!!

There has been plenty of people who want their opinions heard and I just nod and say thank you. We have enough stress without them tht we just take it w acceptance just to shut them up. Lol

I agree w kristy, once I could visualize my day it made it much easier to plan and book.

Hi Ladies!

First of all, I must agree that LIW is a great source of support, opinions and ideas. I’ve been keeping my ears open when wedding talking with friends, family, co-workers for ideas and inspiration. It’s hard because FH and I are the first to get married within our group of friends/cousins, so we are paving the way. I’ve been watching a ton of Bridal shows, going online, and reading a ton of magazines (I subscribe to BRIDE and pick up a new magazine every time I’m at the store). I get most of my ideas from the Bridal magazines.

I really want our wedding to be special and so “us”. We are in the beginning stages of planning, so hopefully our friends and family will be supportive.
