I had my 'final' appointment with my florist tonight. I brought home the mini-purple calla lilly that FH would be wearing. He thought it was a little small. The florist had suggested using double- one higher than the other- for him, but I never really seen that. Is this done? How does this look?
If anyone could post photos of some boutineers (esp. calla lillies!) it would be helpful. Also are boutineers ever given baby's breath or anything? She didn't suggest it, so I'm guessing probably not.

callas generally look best with some foliage green leaves, small berries, etc.. i wouldnt recommend babys breath as callas are an elegant flower and a bit of filler just cheapens the look. one calla is usually fine but heres some images just in case. good luck!
my fave combo is the one above - calla with a bit of seeded eucalyptus
if your FH thinks 1 calla is too small, ask your florist to add a small spray rose like the one above. makes it a lot flulffier but still elegant and classy.

These are such great choices! I actually showed FH everything that was posted and he likes the single calla with the pink ribbon wrapped around it...we could do the purple calla with white satin. I def like the way the double looks though!
I have to call my florist tomorrow though b/c she did not even suggest any greens going around it. I really have to get this clear with her!
that pink one above is with lily grass. its another one of my fave combos. yes callas go well with stephanotis. my only suggestion is this (and its just MY opinion); i wouldnt recommend stephanotis if youre not using it in your brides bouquet. reason is that stephanotis is like teh ultra bridal flower, many florists say (and rightly so) that your wedding day is the ONLY time in your life that you will carry stephanotis. therefore if you are not using stephanotis anywhere els,e i wouldnt recommend shoving it onto the bout..
my other reasoning is practical. stephanotis, although a shiny white flower, is VERY delicate. the oils on your handsturn stephanotis black fairly quickly. think of the way an avocado turns brown when its left out too long. a similar thing happens to stephanotis when it is touched. therefore a boutonierre that will get touched in hugs and by the photographer and by the groom many times.. you get my drift..
but hey, when it comes down to it, do what you think is beautiful. here are som nice stephontis calla pics:

stephanotis on its own. you can also ask your florist to put a crystal, jewel or pearl in the center of each bud!

Thanks for the name of the Lily Grass...really helpful for when i talk to the florist.
I didn't know that stephanotis were so delicate. I heard this about the gardenia because my FMIL wanted it for her corsage, so we went against it. I am using the stephanotis in my bouquet, but I better not use it for FH because it may be easily damaged.
Going to call the florist to discuss some of these things!!!!

OUr guys wore double mini roses and it looked good...don't have a scanned pic (only pic of DH with one big rose)
