Re: BP-is anyone not having siblings?

I wasn't going to, but I caved... and added his two sisters bringing my BM count to 8. I am not close with them at all, but eventually just felt bad that they weren't being included in the wedding. They haven't been the least bit helpful (just getting them to give me their dress sizes took forever!), but I have accepted that this is the way it will be. The annoying part is that I am not even sure if they wanted to be bridesmaids.... but, since I wasn't getting any direct info from anyone (my fiance included), I decided to just ask them.

It's a tough call. Do what you feel it right and what you think will cause the least stress down the line. This is a small sacrifice to make if you think it will save you from some tension down the line. And big bridal parties are in these days!

Good luck!

I didn't invite my SIL to be in my bridal party. I am not that close with her and neither is DH so it wasn't really an issue.

At some point I asked DH if he wanted me to invite her and he said no - not to be mean, just the dynamics of the relationships did not make it an obligation.

Re: BP-is anyone not having siblings?

I did not ask my two SIL's and it has turned a little awkward. THe one thing I really wanted was a SMALL bridal party. I have 2 sisters, and a best friend who might as well be a sister. That is THREE and that is plenty!

One of his sisters did not care. His other sister is 15 years older than me and has 5 kids. We definitly get along and love each other, but I just didn't 'feel' it (age difference, kids, etc) - she was VERY offended, and has let most of his family know it (His grandmoter said last week 'So, you are not having C*** in the bridal party?! Why?)

It has gotten a little silly, but I think you choose who you want, not siblings just because they are siblings. If I invited his siblings, then my aunt would have wanted to know whether I was going to ask my cousins...and on and on and on...

You have to draw the line somewhere.

My 2 brothers are not in my BP. At first, I was upset (since FH changed his mind). But then again, they will be walking my mom down the aisle.

We didn't want a large bridal party so we're just having 1BM and 1MOH 1GM and 1BM
Total of 4. FH has 3 sisters that I couldn't have been able to have in the bridal party. It would have been too hard to choose them because we wanted to keep it small. The families were not hurt by it. They knew it was OUR WEDDING!

Re: BP-is anyone not having siblings?

I'm in a similar situation. FH has two sisters. He is older than me and in the middle of his two sisters. The older one has two kids and I've asked her if she would do me the honor and let the kids be in the wedding. The younger sister is my age and I did ask her to be a BM since I feel somewhat closer to her. I'm up to 5 bridesmaids now and still may want another 4 close friends. This has kept me up at night. We've got similar wedding dates, do you feel like you have to make a decision soon? That's what I feel like.

We didn't aks my brother. FH is an only child. He is not close to my brother.
We each asked 2 cousins.

we later decided to have mybrother as an usher, not a groomsman. No tux, gift, but a bouteniere &will ride in the limo with us.

Mostly wedid this, b/c the Reverand said we needed another usher. Otherwise he just would have escorted my mom.

I am having siblings...but I think it would cause a rift if you didn't. These people are family, you know?

We're having my sister abd BIL, but not Fh's sister and BIL (mainly because we hate them). I don't care. it's about who you're close with. If you're not close with them, they know it oo, and shouldn;t be offended

Re: BP-is anyone not having siblings?

I think if you are closer with one sister and feel badly not having her- than ask her- but the one in CA- maybe she could do a reading? My FH's older sister is ten years older than me and really fine with my decision to have her children instead of her. I'm seeing my 4 potential BMs tomorrow night (already have 5 definite) and when I first got engaged told everyone I was going to have a big wedding party, then a few weeks ago said we may just have a very small wedding party, but think I've changed my mind again. I just don't know at any given moment and really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I put both my husband's sisters in, but my husband didn't ask all of mine (I have three brothers - he only put one in).
