BP complaints!

okay this is actually more funny than serious but c'mon . . . give me a break here!

my niece is 8 yrs old and she informed me that 'she was already a flower girl two times so she will walk down the aisle but she won't carry flowers'

fine.

FH niece is FIVE and she tells me 'I dont want to be a FG i want to be a BM and wear a blue dress and wear a tiara and i dont want to throw flowers on the floor like a baby'

FH's TEN year old niece (jr. BM) IMs me last night saying 'my friend says your BM dresses are ugly' when i ask her what she thinks she says 'why didnt you pick out 'HOT' dresses????' - I tried to explain that she is supposed to look BEAUTIFUL not HOT at a wedding - and at ten you are NEVER supposed to look HOT nor could you even look hot if you tried - but she was dissapointed - meanwhile i am thinking of the white poofy gown i wore to my 6th grade graduation ( i was 12 and let me tell you this dress could have been a FG dress but i LOVED IT )

Anyway, just thought it was funny - THANK GOD for my MOH and my BM - so far no complaints there :)

*jenn, let me know if the dresses i pick out aren't 'HOT' enough for you!! HA HA

That is hilarious.....at least its the little ones who don't understand at all and are just being kids that are doing the complaining :) Take em out for a trip with all the older girls and they will get them excited about what they have to wear...it will make them feel like the group and not listen to their friends

Re: BP complaints!

Funny, I guess... They are kids but they need to be reminded what a wedding is. As a teacher I see all too often adults letting kids get away with stuff. As adults I can see why it is funny but really, it isn't. Those young ladies are being rude and very disrespectful. You would be doing them and yourself a disservice by laughing it off. Remind them of how old they are and that being a part of your wedding is an honor. Explain that being a flower girl is not 'babyish' but a very important part of the wedding ceremony. If she doesn't want to be a flower girl then I guess you will have to try to replace her but tell her how hard that would be and how disappointed you would be. Tell her how you envision her walking down the isle preparing it for you. You know, hype it up! Find pictures of flower girls that are older. Don't allow children to dictate to you what they want. It is not their decision. Would you let your friends say those things to you and laugh it off? Kids are kids but we as adults have the responsibility to remind them of that. You are in charge not them. I feel strongly that it would be a mistake to just laugh this off. JMO.

That is really great advice.

It is a little funny but I do agree with the previous post a bit. They should be reminded that being part of your wedding is a big responsibility and that it is not at all babyish. Although we could start our own reality show...Bridal Party-zillas!!!

FYI, kids say these things when they hear them from adults.
