I'm 27 and I'm thinking about having my aunt as one of my BMs... I'm very close with her. She's 42 (and a young tiny little 42!). My BP so far is 27-35. TRUTHFULLY, not just 'it's your wedding do whatever you want' - What do you ladies think?

If you are close with her I think that would be nice that you ask her. Since your BP is a bit younger she may be hesitant to say yes, so keep that in mind and ask her in a way that she can be comfortable if she wants to say no.
Also, depending on what's planned for your bachelorette party she might want to beg off . So as long as you'd be ok with her not participating in some things, I'd say it would be a nice gesture. If she is a young 42 there might be no issues at all.

if she's close to you like a mother, then i say to leave her out of the BP and let her enjoy watching.
if she's close like a friend, then ask her ... age doesn't matter unless you're a cheese lol

Re: BP Question - Age...
I got married for the first time at 41. I had 3 women in my BP - my two sisters (ages 43 and 34) and DH's sister (age 40). They are the people closest to us in the world and I never could imagine getting married without them.
I have 3 friends who I've been friends with since I was 10 or 11 years old. I was in all of their weddings. When I got engaged, they specifically told me they didn't want to be BMs - they felt too old.
If I were asked to be in a friend's wedding right now at 41, I would be honored but truthfully if she was a lot younger than I am, I would say no. Being 100% honest, as a veteran of 7 BPs, it's really not a lot of fun being a BM after a while. However, if it were one of my sisters, I would be rockin' a bridesmaid dress because they are my sisters.
My opinion - ask her. She may decline - don't feel slighted if she does. Age is just a number - I don't act 41, I don't feel 41 and I can't say I look like I'm 41 because what does 41 look like?

Re: BP Question - Age...
Age definitely doesn't matter.
I'm 24 (will be 26 at wedding) and oldest member of my BP is 44, youngest 3. Both first cousins. Go figure!

Re: BP Question - Age...
I'll be 39 when I get married and my BM's are 40, 43, 59 and 61!!! Believe it or not the 61 year old looked the best in the BM's dress.
