Is the bridal party supossed to sit or stand during the wedding ceremony??? Is it up to the bride or the church?? My friend recently got married in a church and I was in the BP and we had to sit in the first row. I always pictured my wedding with my bridesmaids standing up.....anyone know anything about this??

They have to follow the ceremony...it would probably be different if it wasn't in a church

i think it is up to the church. my friend had a full mass for her wedding so we sat most of the time but there were parts we stood.
if you are getting married at a rh then usually they stand the whole time...but thats probably up to the bride and groom.

most full masses -- the BP sits. (usually the MOH and BM will be up at the altar with the B&G)
otherwise--at non church weddings many times the BP stands. we had our wedding at the RH so the BP stood

It is up to the church. My BP has to Sit, but my MOH and Best Man are up at the alter with us.

It's up to the church. Our BP is standing the entire time except for communion.

IMO - I think it is up to the church and the length of the service. .
I've always stood. Even in church but then I've never done a full mass length type of wedding -- so I got by on adrenaline etc and I was fine. .

i think it's completely a personal preferance...i was in a bp where we all stood and it was really nice... for our wedding we had the MOH & Best Man stand, and the rest sat in the first row. we had a fairly long ceremony & wanted to feature our MOH & bm so that's what we chose...they stood along side the alter, sat with us, etc. but it's a personal preference - totally up to you

My MOH and BM stood the whole time. My cousins told me that it was tradition hah I didn't even think to ask anyone on here about it. I did like that my MOH was standing though, b/c I almost tripped on my dress going up to light the unity candle. She helped straighten my dress out right away, I didn't need to call her up there.
We also had a non-religious ceremony in a non-denominational chapel.

usually when the priest is standing during the church mass that's when the audience stands. when the priest sits, the audience sits. at a wedding ceremony, the priest will motion for everyone to sit down. the bp follows what he tells them to do. the moh and best man are usually on the alter with the couple.
