Brazilian!!

i'm thinking of getting a brazilian done the week before my wedding at the red door spa in Garden City. Any reccommendations on who should do the service? i've never been to that spa or had a brazilian so i want to make sure i pick a good person!

also, what's the price at St. Tropez? red door lists their price at $81 so i just want to compare.

thanks!!

Re: Brazilian!!

I used to go to St Tropez before I moved to Queens... and they were fantastic and I think with tip, I was paying $60 or $65.... but we're talking 2002/2003 here.

I will say I loved it there and I always had the same girl whose name escapes me righ tnow.. but who knows if she's still there either...

A couple Brazilian tips though: About an hour before, take 3 Advil or Motrin. Do not have alcohol. And right before you leave to drive there, use a lidocaine spray. you can get them at cosmetic stores, Gigi makes one... the first strip she pulled off me made my body convulse so bad I almost fell off the table, lol. The next time I went prepared and it was SO much more comfortable.

Arti at Red Door is fantastic and so sweet!!

Also if you're open to other places, Estee Lauder in manhasset (americana) - Alicja is AWESOME (make sure u ask for the 'purple' wax as opposed to the strips). Her name is pronounced Ah-lee-zee-ah

LOL, no, don't be scared, sorry, but you never know what your skinw ill do in response to new things.

I had a teeny tiny bit of bleeding, my skin is REALLY sensitive though... little pin pricks... and my skin was pretty inflamed for the next day... but the little spots took a cuple of days to go away. It didn't really hurt after the fact, but it def wasn't very sexy. It was just that first time though.

Re: Brazilian!!

if you really want a realllllllly good brazilian, im talking a REAL brazilian...

skip red door

go to Sonia's Waxing Plus

Sonia's Waxing

its in E. Northport

not sure where you live but it is by far theeeeeeeeeeeee best waxing place EVER! and totally worth the trip from wherever you are coming from

the women are brazilian
they don't use paper or sticks

the place the wax directly on your body and pull the wax itself off..no papers!

its amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they can do your entire bottom with only 2 or 3 pulls! which means ALOT less pain! she said she can even do it all in ONE shot, but i was too afraid for that

and she will make any shape you want lol!!

its only 50 bucks p.s.

ive referred 2 people already and they are all raving

also, you will need a few days to 'heal' because your skin can be really sensitive and red for a few days, tender to touch, so id do it at about 5 days prior

i never been to either, but i have say i think you should go now, like this week (if you have enough). it hurts like heck the very first time. and this way you know how your skin will react.

then the next time you go, you know how long your skin takes to heal, and how long it lasts for you, and you can plan accordingly for your wedding. if thats your correct wedding date, its perfect timing to go now, wait a month (which is normal) before your second time.

Re: Brazilian!!

Red Door in GC: id recommend Racquel or Elise; ive used both many times and they are good and know what they are doing. (I thought Arti only did threading but i might be wrong...) Red Door also uses stripless wax, which is what you should look for in 'that area'. you can have them apply wax more than once and its easier on your skin.

As for Sonia's, ive never been there but a new one opened on Willis Avenue in Roslyn Heights... if you are looking for red door in GC, this is likely closer to you than E. Northport.

Completely Bare is also great if you want to trek into the city.

Whereever you go, make sure they have a 'one stick per dip' policy or a separate serving size of wax for you and you alone. Red Door does.
