my mom was telling me about a wedding she went to where they had break away center pieces...basically there are a bunch of vases with flowers in the middle of the table that they can do up nice with a bow and then each couple/guest can take away one of the vases at the end of the night? i guess it takes care of cetnerpieces and favors all in one shot.
anyone heard of these? or have any pictures/websites to checkout?

Re: break away centerpieces
Nope sorry, just wanted to say it's a nice idea and it also eliminates fighting over the cp...I've seen people get nasty!

LOL I was at a wedding where two people starting cussing at each other over taking the centerpieces home, not a pleasant site.

Re: break away centerpieces
I have seen large cps surrounded by smaller break away cps for the guests to take home. It sounds like a good idea, but may be costly.

I've heard of that, and it's neat.
My friend had floating candles in a big bowl in the middle of the table. then she had all smaller votive candles around the big bowl of floating candles. everyone took a votive as a favor, and the DJ played a game to give away the centerpiece bowl itself. that way no fist fights!

Re: break away centerpieces
I'm doing something similar to this (but different flowers) and it's only $65 per centerpiece.
i am thinking of doing this type of thing - low centerpieces that are essentially wrapped in 5 or 6 boquets that the ladies can then take.
but, just this morning I was thinking of how maybe i want to cut my floral budget by A LOT and may not do that. But the quotes I got for that was only $55 bucks.
The only issue I have with it is this. If you are going to do that - you need to have it on EVERY tables and you need to make sure you have enough.
My issue with it was I also wanted to do a few tall calla lilly or tulip CP (the ones that are all the rage here on the boards). But when you start to do that.... then you have tables without it.
Another thought I just recently had was to do half of those TALL CP's and just have the wait staff present each lady with one flower (I'm thinking of having the other half of the tables have just candelabras...so they would have to take one CP, and present two tables worth of ladies with a flower). Another thought is to have say 12 bud vases in the center of the table (or 6 depending on your situation) with one or two tall flowers - it creates the same look but come then be taken home.
Just some thoughts. I hate it when I love the flowers but some 'aunt' gets to take it. Makes me mad.

Re: break away centerpieces
I was going to do the break away centerpieces which I really loved. I changed my mind when I was quoted $75.00 a piece for them. They didn't even include flowers, just rose petals.
i'm having issues with whether i want to do it or not.
with so many out of town guests, i just think it will be a waste.
i was thinking of doing just 15 tall white tulip CP's in the big vase and 15 candelabras from my site.
i'd love for the wait staff to take them out of the vase at the end of the night and give them away --- but they will probably be droopy.
I need to find the girls who have done this!

Re: break away centerpieces
Do you have to have flowers? I have heard/read about just stacking wrapped favor boxes in the middle of the table. Maybe on a cake stand with votives around it? I think that would look nice and save on the florist bill. And no one would have to fight for anything!
