I am kind of annoyed with my hotel right now because all along they have said if we want to do a breakfast the day after the wedding, they will give us vouchers to include in the welcome bags and we will only be charged for people who actually use them (this way, if people are hung over or just want to hit the road, we don't need to worry about an exact head count). Now, all of a sudden, they are saying we need to book a private room for a set time and give them an exact head count. I am rethinking hosting a breakfast now.
What do you ladies think - breakfast or no breakfast?

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
i actually voted no breakfast. with my experience, i've either been to hungover or tired to make it to breakfast. i think it's a nice gesture and ppl would probably want it or even expect it as an OOT but with my experience, i've never made it

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
The next morning is sometimes hard....I know in the past I went when it was later on in the day but usually you check out of the hotel before then. I think I might do one the Sunday for close fam and BP. Most of my people will probably stay the whole weekend.
Edited... Does the hotel include any sort of coffee and baked goods type breakfast?? Then it totally makes it easier for you to not host anything extra.

Thanks, ladies! This is helpful
I actually called the original person I spoke with and she said we CAN still do the vouchers. Our options are A) do the vouchers for the buffet - upside is cost, and flexibility with timing (no set time), but downside is people can't sit together. OR B) host the private event - upside is it's private, downside is we need to guarantee people show up and it costs more!
I would like to just do vouchers for the buffet, but my mom really wants to do the private breakfast

we actually have the same option AND the same dilemma! My father decided he wants to have his out of town guests (which is basically his side of my family) to have a brunch - so he is hosting it and we are going. We told FMIL that is where we will be and if she wants to join here is a price, give us a count of who you plan to pay for. FH and I decided we will pay for the bridal party to join us. Everyone else is either getting nothing or the voucher....that we havent decided on yet.

I'd do the voucher. You could still show up. I am a morning person, so I love going down to breakfast and seeing some other people

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
It's definitely not necessary.
We are actually just going to meet up with my family that is staying at the hotel to have a quick Mother's Day breakfast the morning after since our wedding is the day before Mother's Day. Then later on go to FIL's house.
Everytime I've stayed at a hotel where there was a breakfast the next morning I never really went. And I'm sure if people want breakfast they will go down and get it themselves.

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
We are doing a breakfast around 10ish.. I've done it before and its a nice way to catch up with people after partying all night long. I think it depends on the crowd you expect to be staying over.. I know my family will definitely enjoy it so it was a must for me.

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
My parents thought that breakfast wasn't neccessary either. They thought people would sleep in and then hit the road. To be honest, the way it all worked out, I'm SO happy we did a breakfast. My dad thought it was a waste in the beginning and that only 10 people would show up. We ended up having about 45 people come to the breakfast in the hotel and it was worth every penny. My dad even said he was wrong and I was right. The day after a wedding, people like to see the bride and groom, recover from their hangoverm, and talk about the wedding the next day. It was great to hear everyone talk about things I didn't know happened.

It depends on who you think will come. We went to his cousins years ago and it was nice bc it gave the couple more time to talk to people they didnt get to last night. But it was pretty much both families who went.
We are considering doing this but we havent found a hotel yet. Weve been trying to set up the marriot but the manager NEVER calls us back.. You think hed want the business

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
When my sister got married her MIL made a few brunch foods and had people at her house. Not many showed up, but it was nice to have the option (although my sister and her husband didn't come)

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
I'd do the voucher which is similar to what we will do. The private room is just so expensive and the benefit is that people who want to go later can. Friends will call each other up in the morning and go down together and I didn't think it was so important to have every single person sit together.

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
both times that i heard that bride ad groom will be hosting a morning after breakfast, they were never there lol or more then 1/2 the guests werent.
just seems that most people want to sleep in, or in my case are too hungover lol

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
Instead of a breakfast, we offered a BBQ at my parents house the next day for the people who stayed in the local hotels. No one was up early enough for breakfast (us too) and hotel food is sometimes . Also, at the casual BBQ we had lots of time to talk to our guests in a super relaxed and lazy atmosphere.

Re: Breakfast at hotel morning after?
I'm still trying to decide on this bc alot of OOT will be leaving the next day & plus we are having the big get together the wedding!!! So I think we'll be skipping that extra cost!! I think if you can provide the vouchers is plenty though!!
