ok so the wedding is almost a month away and i am breaking out like never before...my bff says it is from stress and the same thing happened to her. it is all over my chin my forehead my upper lip my neck. yuck so gross. the worse part is it is not all at once as soon as i think something is gone something else pops up. any advice? i have been drinking a ton of water and am going to try some new products i usually use desert essence organic natural face wash and cream. i am going to try aveenno clear complexion pads and daily mos lotion to see if that helps...ugh anyone also have a cure for red arms? my upper arms are red on the backs....i think it is from all the heavy sweaters and coats all the rubbing...this is so annoying
sorry long vent

This is actually really bad advice, but if it's really bad like this, in a pinch...peroxide. It draws all the infection right out. But use this as your ace in the hole, it's not the best for your skin if you do it too much, it can cause premature wrinkles. I only do this in emergency situations.

It sounds stupid, but I swear by Proactive. I've been using it for a while and haven't had anything since I started using it.

Definitely drink tons of water and get a really good facial ASAP. I say ASAP b/c a good deep facial can make you a little red and even break out more for the next week after that if you haven't had a facial in a while. The trick is if you break out, you go back about a week later and get another facial. Then your face should be amazing after that. You just need to make sure you have enough time between the wedding and now for the redness to go away (which can be a couple of days to a week). It's probably stress from the wedding, but just be proactive about it. I don't know if you go to the city, but I SWEAR by my aestetician. I believe Espo22 goes to the same spa as me too. My aestetician's name is Valeria, and the spa is Kimara Ahnert (www.kimara.com). I don't know if you work in the city, but they may be kind of a trek (Madison Ave. and 83rd Street), but they're amazing!! Even if you don't see Valeria, any of the aestetician's there are amazing. I hope that helps!!!

I couldn't have said it better myself. A month before your wedding is not the greatest time to try out a new routine. The dermatologist can give you skincare and at home treatments that are better than ANYTHING you could get over the counter on in a department store.

Re: breaking out like whoa!
aww thanks girl!!
I went to school for esthetics years ago (although I never finished or took the state boards since I ended up doing makeup) and learned SO MUCH about skin.Seriously dermatologists have skincare products that THEY recommend which are usually less expensive than dept store brands and work AMAZINGLY better. Your wedding is so close I'd hate for you to have another breakout/reaction. Worse comes to worse the dermatologist can give you a cortisone shot and take the redness away, in a pinch. Sorry girl this is one thing I won't let ya budge on!! No DIY skincare projects until AFTER the wedding. Leave it in the hands of medical professionals

ITA. Definitely do go to the derm (they'll fix you right up) and don't try any new products before the wedding unless prescribed. It can make it worse. And I also agree with changing the pillowcases.

Re: breaking out like whoa!
do you go tanning? that's the best thing i've ever found for clearing up a break-out. the light dries the skin and kills the bacteria causing the infection in your pores. if it's bad, you'll have to go a few times and be patient while everything heals. GL!

I do this as well...very rarely, but I do it... If you have them the day or two before your wedding, then def. give this a try...

Try proactiv. It works WONDERS for me. And don't drink orange juice or any other citrus and stay away from tomatoes. The acid can cause breakouts.

Re: breaking out like whoa!
I've been on Acutane 2 times... and I have a wonderful dermatologist. Right now I use proactive... I also use St. Ives exfoliating scrub. My skin is good now. I do get an occasional blemish around that time of month though. But as someone who has battled this problem for some time... stress can definately trigger it. I would recommend going to a dermatologist... but make sure you go to a good one.... I went to one once who barely even looked at me and didn't address anything. They just wanted to prescribe topical creams that burned the crap out of me. My current derm is on 86th street on the east side in manhattan if you are interested FM me and I can get you his contact information. Also, proactive has an AMAZING mask! You can use it just on trouble spots or as a mask. It works wonders! Lots of people swear by it. I have a friend who doesn't use proactive but she signs up just so she could order that mask. Good Luck!

Tanning Definately helps. However... the long term effect of tanning causes more harm then good. I would only suggest tanning as a short term solution. Perhaps just for the wedding time period... but not as an ongoing method.

Honestly, you're probably just under a tremendous amount of stress. Before you start playing around with different products that could dry your skin or inflame it even more, I'd go to a dermatologist. S/he can give you some meds to help control the breakouts for the next few weeks.
I'd also try exercising. It relieves stress and the sweat helps clear your pores (as long as you wash afterwards!).
