Breast Cancer Test Recommendation

Breast Cancer Test Recommendation

Halo is a breast cancer test- my gyno does it at her office & she had recommended it- it was $150 since insurance doesnt cover it yet but it can actually detect breast cancer 7 years!!!! before a lump shows up

The test itself took 5 minutes- they hook you up to this thing that looks a lot like a huge breast milk pump- then warm water fills it & it squeezes.

Just thought I would recommend it- it wasnt bad- a little uncomfortable but totally worth it in my opinion

I think this is a great recommendation and my gyno's office does this too!

I wonder if my office does it?? Did they recommend you take it or did you decide to on your own?

my gyno recommended it- but after she told me that it would detect breast cancer up to 7 years before a lump showed up- I was pretty much sold to tell the truth

Thank you for posting...I'm due for my yearly soon and will have to ask about it.

My aunt on my mother's side died of breast cancer when I was 5 or 6 years old.

interesting - im curious about this - what happens if they detect something that isnt there yet? like if it can detect if before there is a lump - thats the part im confused about - what is it actually diagnosing? and would they do about it?

I can't believe I am going to put this out there but about 2 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer. There was no lump but cancer cells. They went and removed the cells and now I am going through radiation. Maybe this test can find the cancer cells and they can be removed. I wish I knew about this test a couple years ago.

im sorry to hear that steph but at least everything was detected early and its being taken care of

im interested in this test - my grandma might have breast cancer - they are waiting on results, and if she does have it, i know that the risk increases for my mom, my aunt, my sister and myself - i think its great that they have this new test - im very curious about it....

lots of well wishes your way

Good for you for putting it out there. First, it helps to talk about it. Second, this will probably convince some people who otherwise wouldn't get checked to get checked out. Only good can come from it.

I will keep you in my prayers. You caught it so early - you're going to be OK.

WOW!!! Great to know...how disgusting is it that insurance doesn't cover stuff like this...hello...if you find this stuff early the insurance companies will have to pay way less compared to what they pay when you do have cancer and have to go through treatments and everything....I hate health insurance companies!!!

Thanks everybody!! I am cancer free at this moment...woohoo and plan to keep it that way. Early detection is key and I really hope this test can help lots of women. It actually does feel better to let it out. FH has been amazing in this whole situation and if it wasn't for him I don't think I would have been ok and now I have you ladies too!!

Future Mulligan - Good luck with your grandma. I hope everything turns out ok!!

Do a little research on your own. This test is pretty controversial. Many studies show that it is pointless which is why insurance hasnt picked it up yet. Or worse, there are false positives.

I would never suggest someone get the test or NOT get the test, just be aware of all the sides to the story

Sometimes, if a company rep comes into the office, and offers the doctor an incentive - they will suddenly start offering it.
