Re: Breast Reduction
I did this 4 yrs ago and it was the best decision of my life. What was even better was my insurance paid for all of it.
I can't make any recommendations bc my doctor is in Chicago, but I want to wish those who are thinking about it luck. If you have any questions about the procedure/recovery FM me.

Re: Breast Reduction
I really don't know much about the procedure but I am pretty sure my insurance would cover it because I do have lower back problems. What is the recovery ike> Do you have to stay overnight? Does it make you completely unable to breastfeed?

Re: Breast Reduction
I did it 10 years ago. I was out of work for 3 days and I will be able to breastfeed. I went from a DDD to a D.
It was a big change at first but I am so glad I did it.
I will have perky boobs forever!

I did stay in the hospital overnight. At first my doctor told me I'd be an outpatient, but then he said they took out more than expected and wanted to observe me.
I remember crying when I woke up from surgery. But then the nurse showed me the button to push for the Morphine and it was all good from there. I was painful when they took the draining tubes out. I wish I took pain medication before he did it.
It was uncomfortable sleeping on my back for a few weeks. There was some pain when I made some movements. There were a lot of stiches (dissolvable) so changing the dressing was a little gross at times. I was out of the office for 6 weeks. I worked from home after 2 weeks though. I wasn't able to exercise for 3 months and limited chest exercises for 5 or 6 months.
As long as they don't remove the nipple you have a good chance at BF. It also depends on how much of your mammory glands are removed. Also the more time between surgery and having a child the better the chances for nipple stimulation and repairs to mammory glands. I was able to BF my son a few times. He didn't have a good latch (not bc of surgery), so I pumped for 6 weeks. My supply was low, so I did supplement with formula sometimes. My doctor told me that my supply issues may resolve themselves with the next child.

Not necessarily....If you gain weight it is possible for them to get bigger and change shape. After my pregnancy, I noticed that they are not as 'perky'. You'll be surprised the changed you'll notice in your body after giving birth.

Well, after I have kids I'll let you know but I had it done 10 years ago and up and down a few sizes and still perky. I will go back for an adjustment if necessary so I will always have perky boobs!

Wow I went in a 10 and was home by 3. I guess everyone has a different experience. I will be able to breastfeed according to the doc No pain meds were needed.

Re: Breast Reduction
Not to make light of a serious procedure with some serious medical attachments, but if you guys have any 'extra material,' Can ya throw it my way?

Re: Breast Reduction
I always wanted one as a teenager, but I have lost some weight and I'm liking my boobs more. But, it would be nice for them to be perkier. I know that if I start having back problems, I'll have a reduction.
