Breed?

i dont know the breed but he is cute

that's a boston terrier and you are going to wish that you hadn't asked bc i am like a walking ad for them! of course this is only from my experience but lots of people agree with me!

they only shed a little

they only bark if they are scared or there is someone they dont know - excellent dogs if you are home alone a lot! my BT senses people coming up to my door and barks before they ring the bell!! but they arent 'yappers'

they like to run and play but they are also good apt dogs bc they will definitely keep themselves occupied

they tend to have sensitive stomachs ( mine farts a lot, lol) so we try to only feed him dog food, no table food

they are EXCELLENT with children - of course i would never trust ANY dog alone with an infant. . . but my 7 year old niece and 5 yr old nephew have pinched, stepped on and harassed Brutus to NO END and he has NEVER snapped at them . . . .he also 'guards' my 6 month old niece. . . he lays at the foot of her crib and he checks you out if you go to play with her!

they destroy all toys . . . BUT they are easy to train to ONLY chew on toys ( and not expensive leather shoes!)

they are great companion dogs, very loyal but if you leave them at home they wont wreck the place - they will probably just sleep. . .

they are VERY smart. . .it sounds stupid if you dont have dogs - but he actually amazes me LOL

(on their temperment, grooming needs, excerise needs, health problems, etc)

If you are going with a breeder, please make sure its a reputable 'real' breeder.
All reputable breeders should


Breeder Knowledge:
-goes to shows regularly
-has dogs that have finished (CH)
-member of national or regional Berner club
-holds or has held active club position
-actively does obedience/draft/agility
-knows and freely discusses breed health problems
-openly discusses these problems are in her line, or in dogs she has lived with
-pedigree not supplied before sale
-questions you thoroughly on the things you have to offer a puppy and on qualities you hope to find in your pup
-you like her and get along - want her as your adopted mother!
-Information from her is free flowing, and you perceive her as a good mentor and educator
-wants you to visit her home or kennel
-dogs are all clean and well cared for
-dogs are all indoor dogs and well behaved
-claims every dog in the litter is a show dog
-takes time to explain how she determines if a pup is show potential, breeding potential, and will discuss qualities of specific puppies with you if you ask
