My album was 65 pictures...the contract said 50! my parents and In laws both have 30 pictures...if you liked his work then stick with him...Sometimes other peoples opinions are not the same as yours....

During the wedding process you have to learn to trust your judgement. I love to hear what everyone on this board has to say, and as much as I take into consideration what everyone thinks, I always follow my gut. If you have a good feeling about them, book, if you are a little unsure (not based solely on what has been said on here), then trust your judgement.

Do not second guess everything you do...no matter what anyone tells you. It will make you crazy.

If you liked B rett M atthews, use them, everyone's experience is different, and your will be no exception. 25 is not too much at all, the first thing any former bride tells me about picking their album and the parents album is that they wish they had more pictures in them.

Just go with confidence that you made the right decision...if you start looking elsewhere or listen to what everyone tells you, you will book and rebook everything. Don't worry!

Of all the vendors you will use, photography is probably the most subjective. Everyone has a different picture in their mind of their wedding album. I would make sure that you get all your specifications in writing (ex. 'must have' poses, b&w photos). I think people run into trouble when they don't tell the photographer what they want and just assume that they know.

I wouldn't worry too much about other people's opinions. Again, everybody has a different style.

First off I obviously don't think $4400 is too much to spend, after all, I spent more then that for photography -- it was the most important purchase to me.

Second, in terms of the parent albums, my contract was for 24 in each, and BOTH sets of parents loved so many of the pictures that they are purchasing extras for their albums. My husband's parents' album will be 45!!! :o) If the pictures are good, 25 is NOT too many!

Assuming you aren't starving and up to your ears in debt, I think this is a wonderful thing to spend money on. Wedding photos are probably the most cherished family heirloom anyone leaves behind.

I totally agree about the pictures now that you guys put it that way. I can't imagine my MIL saying 'There are WAY too many pictures in this album, I don't need all these pictures' I'll have to mention that to my mom because its so ridiculous to think you would have too many pictures.
Also, another silly thing she said is that pictures are nice for a little while but how many times will everyone open up your album after a few years. The more I think about it, I realize that those pictures are the ONLY thing people will remember in a few years. Urgh, its so hard to ignore people who aren't getting married advice. I am so glad everyone gave me such positive feedback. I feel confident with B rett M atthews and I think photography is worth the extra cash.

DON'T Listen to everything you hear! My pics are fabulous! I too was worried once I read some bad comments, but I always had confidence in my photographer. I loved how much pics came out!!

Who did you book with at BM?

One thing to remember: when your wedding is over and money is spent, the only thing you will have left is your photos and video. Thus, if you are comortable with your photographer, then don't let others make you question your decision.

I don't know Rich, but we used John - he was great. He used another camera man for candids and B&W, along with an assistant.

Are you not comfortable with Rich? Maybe you could take some engagement shoots to see how you work with him, and to view his work before it gets closer to the wedding and you're stuck.
