Bridal Couture-bad experience!! (LONG)

Bridal Couture-bad experience!! (LONG)

I went there yesterday with my FMIL. She's looking for a very simple silk a-line dress with a bolero jacket. No beads, no lace--very simple.
We walked into Bridal Couture yesterday morning and they have this blue silk ball gown with a bolero jacket in the front. My FMIL stopped and showed me the jacket and how the jacket is similar to what she wants. Just as she said that, this sales woman appeared out of nowhere, proceeded to take the dress off the mannequin and asked my FMIL in try it on. FMIL told her it was too fancy and then FMIL turned to me and asked my opinion. I said I thought it was a little too fancy as well (bear in mind FMIL is 4'11' and this was a ball gown complete with a hoop skirt). Well..the saleslady looked at me and said, 'Excuse me-but who are you??'. When I told her I was the bride she said, 'Well, this is a mother and she should have whatever she wants and you shouldn't have a say!'. I couldn't believe what she had said to me!!!!My FMIL tried in on and came out with her little head poking out--she was swimming in the dress. The saleswoman proceeded to pull these heinous dresses off the rack and my FMIL told her she didn't like them. It didn't seem to matter what she said though. The saleswoman kept pressuring her into the blue silk dress-which by the way was $3,000. We ended up walking out.
I found out this morning that my co-worker who is getting married on 8/3 ordered her Dessy bridesmaids dresses from Bridal Couture in January. When she called last week to find out where her BM dresses were, they told her they wouldn't be in for another 3 weeks!!!
I hope I haven't offended anyone who has purchased dresses from Bridal Couture but I thought I would share my ordeal with y'all.

That place is in Manhassett right? I remember not liking them at all. I ended up going to Bridal Reflections instead.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I was told that that is the same place that refused to give a bride her money back after she lost her fiance in the WTC. It was on Fox 5 Problem Solvers. I am 99% sure it was them. Even though it is not normal policy to give money back, you would think they could've made a judgement call.

Mickey, that is the place that wouldnt give the bride back her money after her fiancee died on 9/11. Ive heard horrible things about that place.

All I can say is-they have the RUDEST salespeople. I omitted another choice experience there as well--while I was standing there, they had a phone call from a bride who had scheduled a fitting appt. Well, seems they double booked the appt. so they lied to her on the phone and when they hung up with her, they proceeded to argue about the double booking right in front of me.

They are incredibly rude -- I am not sure how they stay in business. When I first started looking for my dress we had an appointment there. They double booked and were so rude. My Mom and I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I wanted to call them back and tell them that thanks to their rudeness I found a much better place and spent my money elsewhere.

Also, keep in mind that I tried on the dress I bought at Bridal Reflections at Couture...after the 9/11 story and how rude they were, I ended up getting it at Bridal Reflections...however it was priced $500 more at Bridal Reflections, but when I told them, she took off the $500. Bridal Reflections has been very accomodating.

Try the Wedding Center in Commack for MOB gowns. They have a ton to choice from. Also Estelle's on Rt. 110 has a ton of dresses.

I too, bought my dress at Bridal Reflections and they have been nothing but wonderful and accomodating. After hearing all these stories, I'll be sure to write them a long letter to tell them how I felt and what the saleswoman said to me.

I bought my dress there. I absolutely love my dress but absolutely hate the place!

Unfortunately, I fell in love with dress and couldn't find it anywhere else. They do offer dresses that aren't in catalogs or other stores I shopeed in (I went to like 10 stores before I went there.)

The day I bought my dress my sales woman was very, very nice. Her name is Lee. I would recommend her. She is nothing like other people I have dealt with there. I can't stand the store manager...she is so mean. The people there are very snobby.

I can tell you that my dress was promptly ordered. As soon as I ordered it, I wrote to the mfg. who has been wonderful. They confirmed my order, sent me a swatch as well as beautiful pictures of the dress.

I did not order any of my accessories from Bridal Couture which I think pissed them off. They told me if I do not order the veil from them, it will not look right or match! Whatever. I ordered my veil and headpiece in another store. They did not want to let me see my dress b/c I had swatches of veil samples and was trying to match them to my dress. I went back another day and Lee was there and she made me try on my dress and helped me match the veil sample. Lee is very sweet but only works a couple days a week there.

Re: Bridal Couture-bad experience!! (LONG)

Guys, Its so funny to read your posts, My girlfriend getting married August 18, has had horror stories with Bridal Couture. That was the one place I was told not to go to. She ordered her dress 7 months ago, spent $4,ooo.oo dollars they took a 50% deposit. She is a tall girl and her fiance is also tall. They ordered her gown to short and tall her to wear flat shoe's. She bugged out and told them to order another gown which they didnt and they had the nerve to altar the middle of the dress to try to make it longer and ruined all the work in the mid section. To sum it up she did not accept the dress and they told her to pick out another gown from the store and they will altar it for her. They refuse to refund her her money and she does not want to wear a store sample for her wedding. She has taken legal action against them and she luckly found a dress she likes at Kleinfelds that they will have in time for her wedding.

Yikes..I hope mine is long enough. We thought about adding extra length but the store sample was the exact length for me with a medium heel. It was my decision not to add extra length!

I have had several recommentationsfor this place before I ordered my dress there. I know people who either ordered their gowns or their bridesmaid gowns there. I am actually surprised to hear all the negative. I better make my fitting appointment sooner than later!
