i keep hearing mixed reports on how long before the wedding my gown needs to be ordered. a friend of the family owns a bridal shop and said 6 months. the lady at bay shore bridal said anything under 10 months needs to be rushed--in other words, extra $$$. others have said that bridal salon people just say that to pressure you into ordering the dress on the spot.
so what's the truth? what's the longest a bride should wait?
**i know this question has been asked before, but i tried searching the archives and got nothing relevant.

Re: bridal gown deadline
10 months is absurd, not one of the 4 places I went needed that much time. 8 months was the number I kept getting. You'll get it in 6 months and have 2 months for alterations. That's probably where your friends number came from.

Re: bridal gown deadline
I know for the 3 places I went to and showed them the 5 or 6 alfred angelo dresses I like, they said 6 months is fine. I'm trying to drop a bit more weight before I go try them on... But I'm prolly gonna end up going in another week or two... But they all told me that I have plenty of time...

Re: bridal gown deadline
It depends on where you go. I bought mine 10 months before and my wedding is in 8 weeks and my dress is not in yet.

really? who is the designer? i imagine that has more to do with it than the salon, though i'm not exactly an expert.

Re: bridal gown deadline
I ordered my dress at the beginning of october and it was in during the middle of february, I think if I remember correctly you want to place the order AT LEAST 6 months out but I personally wouldnt go any less then 8 months

Re: bridal gown deadline
I ordered mine at the bridal suite of bay shore in February and it came in on Monday. They told me 6 months and it came in a little early.

Re: bridal gown deadline
My dress takes 9 months to come in, so I think I'd go with 10 months to be safe . . . .

This worries me too! I was told 8-9 months and I don't know if they ordered mine yet- I placed a deposit in April. I should probably call right?

Re: bridal gown deadline
I ordered mine at the end of May 2006 and it came in at the end of January 2007. So mine took about 8 months to come in.

When I originally ordered my dress, I was told it'd be ready in 7-8 months

Oh no!!! Are you worried? I'm sure it will all work out, as it usually does, but that's gotta be a little unnerving! Good luck!
