Is there an equation for the appropriate amount of bridesmaids and groomsmen to the number of guests or is it anything goes? Also, is it inappropriate to have less bridesmaids than groomsmaen, I don't want to ask people just to keep numbers even, I asked my closest friends and and family and don't want to have just anyone.

As far as I know, anything goes with the BP. I think the ushers is one to 50 guests. I know I am having about 150 guests with a BP of 3 (plus RB and FG). Do what you feel comfortable with. You don't have to have one usher for every bridesmaid.

I think you shoudl do whatever you want....i think BP's are something you should do based on your personality....and who you feel are the people in your life that you feel are special and you would appreciate being in your party to make your day as special as possible.

I agree that anything goes. Your BP should consist of the people you really want. Many people now have uneven bridal parties. It's your wedding and whatever you say goes! LOL

Do WHATEVER you want! We're having ALL our cousins (no friends) and it's 20 people not including my 2 JrBM and our ring bearer and flower girl. Everyone thought we were nuts but in the end, we're 1 big happy family!

we are having, 1 moh, 1 best man - and 4 bm's and 4 - gm's. and 1 fg, 1 rb. but there are no rules. do what will make you and your fh happy. don't ask people for the sake of having a big bp. enjoy your day!

I'm still deciding, but including us our bridal party will be any where from 18-22 people. Oh and three kids are included in that number.

Ours will be uneven also...we will probably have 4 bm and 1 moh 1 bestman and 6gm...I didn't want to ask people just to make it even and definitely didn't want to have to choose between people to keep the gm # down

Mine are uneven -- I'm having 4 BM and 5 ushers. And I don't care!! LOL
I am having a huge wedding party. There is a total of 15 girls in it and about 8 men. The difference is little girls that I am going to have walk down the aisle together.

I was going to do an uneven BP because FH had more GM than I had BM, but he didn't like that, so I gave in because he had already brought his number down a lot to help meet my number. So yes, I personally think you can have it uneven and there are many ways to make it look symmetrical (IE: one GM walking with a BM on either side...two BM together, etc.). But, talk to FH about it and see what you can agree on. We ended up with : 1 FG 1 RB 6 BM 6 GM (min 200 guests) I would have been fine with less BM, but I'm fine with this, too, because I put in cousins, so I know they'll be around forever because they're family, as opposed to just throwing in random friends that I may no longer know in 5 years, just to even the numbers.

Ours may or may not be even...I have 5 girls... My Best Friend is the MOH, FI's cousin and sister, my brother's girlfriend and my cousin.
Then my FI has his bro as Best Man and 2 friends and my 2 brothers. He is on the fence about 1 friend. So now he has 5
