Bridal Party

What role should my BP, and MOH be playing at this time - about 7 months to the wedding?
They have picked out their dresses, and we have a fitting scheduled.

My MOH asked for a shower guest list

None of them seem terribly interested in the wedding, (but maybe its just me)

Re: Bridal Party

You will find they may not be that helpful. I am not good at asking for help so I didn't really have them do much of anything. If you are going to make favors or hotel baskets or stuff like that they can help you out. They will plan the shower now and the bachelorette.

So don't feel bad if they don't seem interested. They will never be as interested as you so that is what we are all here for. We want to know all the details and talk about weddings all the time

Re: Bridal Party

I'm also 7 months away.
I havent really asked them for anything. My MOH also asked for a shower guest list. I 'm also emailing them all a spreadsheet listing each other's information so they can get together to discuss things, especially since half of them live out of town.
They know about the dresses and will order them by December the latest !!

I'm probably a bad example, because I'm so anal, I don't need any help, and don't really want any interference in my plans.
Is that bad?

Re: Bridal Party

I think Jen said it best...they are just not as excited as the bride...but they should be involved in the shower and the bachelorette party...

Jenhos

About the baskets - my MIL has been asking about them, so I was going to assign them to her. They are not one of the important things (IMO) and will give her a 'job'. Is that OK?

LizLen
I'm like you - I want to keep it all in my realm, but I was just wondering if they should be more interested.

Re: Bridal Party

Some of my bridal party are absolutely fabulus and some others just dont seem to care, its like I am not even getting married (but when it was there's I was around for everything). It kind of upsets me but I am trying to let go of it and not let it.

But some of the Girls are great, shopping with me all the time going to appointments, everything. One of my best friends who is not my MOH already asked me for addresses too, she is great. My sister and cousin live out of state so its hard but they have been wonderful too, I wish they lived closer for this.

Good Luck and just lean on the girls who are helping and make you feel like this is your special time - screw the rest.
Kimberly

Re: Bridal Party

I am going to have my bridesmaids help me with our hotel baskets and if we get favors, I will incorporate some help from the ladies.

Also when I get my trial done I will drag someone with me.

Enjoy

Re: Bridal Party

I think my BP does care, but since I'm not asking, maybe they just let it be. They know how I am.
My MOH on a few occasion has said 'Liz has had this wedding planned since she was 5 years old'
We make a big joke about how I don't need or want help. They are wonderful, I know they will work together to throw me a fabulous shower, and that's all I really care about.
And that they order their dresses/shoes on time

Re: Bridal Party

Dubliner

That will be a great job for her. Just make sure if you have your heart set on what goes in them that you make a list or buuy all the stuff. They are a little time consuming. I wrapped all mine in clear cello. paper and tied them with ribbon and placed everything in neatly so it wouldn't look a mess. But it will be nice for her to have a 'task' to do.

Re: Bridal Party

At 7 months to go, my bridal party didn't do very much at all. I never really asked for help because I didn't want to bother them.

But as the wedding got closer, they got more interested and were great.

Re: Bridal Party

I know my wedding is kinda far away, but I already am feeling like maybe I should have left someone out of the wedding party and included others. When I first got engaged, my friend (who I haven't asked to be in my BP but I may replace someone!) drove over to my house, picked me up and took me dress shopping! She was so cute. My cousin has been shopping photographers with me on the weekend and some others have been asking if I need help, but I haven't with them yet. However, I'm going back and forth on one of my girls because she hasn't called me in 2 months and hasn't even RSVPed to my e-party! Its one of those 'been friends forever' type of things. What were we talking about again? lol. I am going to look at my to-do list in my planner and start giving out jobs. I'm trying to be concious of people that are REALLY busy, but at the same time, I think my BP genuinely enjoys tasks. They just don't know how to help out

Re: Bridal Party

Dubliner - I feel the same way. I hope they don't wait until the last minute to do shower planning. I guess it is true that no one is as excited as we are. Maybe they'll realize how they've been when it's their turn and the same thing happens to them.
