Okay...so FH and I had asked our BP to be part of our wedding in September/ October of last year and since then 3 girls have dropped out (one was my bro's ex gf, my other friend moved to the Caribbean to go to school, and another one will be 8 months preggers by then)..We originally had 9 girls and 14 guys which was okay, but now we're down to only 6 girls and 14 guys...FH has a group of 7 guys in the BP that are his extended friends and if you ask one you have to ask the other so that's what we did, but he's not super close with them... I have no idea what to do and am really kind of upset about this whole thing and the wedding is 4 and a half months away....any suggestions would be really helpful...also, would it be awful to explain to the 7 guys what happened and tell them were 'shrinking' the BP?..I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!..It's going to look so stupid in the pics and walking down the aisle with 14 guys and only 6 girls..

Its hard to tell them that they cant be in the wedding...2 guys can walk down a girl...that helps and then you only have 2 guys left

Re: Bridal party Dilema
OK so I was kinda on the other end of this a few months ago. My fh's sister just got married in February and I was in the bridal party. But I was never asked to be in the bridal party I was told by their mom that I was going to be a part of the wedding which pissed me off and that is obviously not the case with you but it's still hard.
On the plus side guys are much easier to break this kind of news to versus girls. I would take the whole bridal party out to drinks or maybe have some appetizers at your house/apartment and explain the situation. I am sure that the guys will not be drama kings about the situation.
Don't stress this is supposed to be a wonderful time in your life. It will all work out.
If the guys are upset about being cut out of the bp then ask them to be part of your wedding in another way. Do a reading or something.
Or another idea could be to match two guys with one girl that way you only have to cut 2 guys?
DON'T STRESS =)

Sorry..how frustrating! You could just have all the guys up there with your FH , and have the girls walk down alone one by one...and then for the walk back up the aisle and the reception...two guys to one girl...its kindof too late to tell ppl forget it ya know

also for pics it doesnt have to be even... for group shots with you guys mix it up boy, boy, girl, boy, girl, who cares...you wont even care that day when you're taking pics if its too many guys and less girls , you'll jsut be looking at your FH

Re: Bridal party Dilema
Awe I feel ya on this one! Just not as extreme. I had 5 girls to start and FH had 6 guys. 2 dropped out so then I was down to 3! I actually asked my aunt (who I am very close with to be in my BP - so now I have 4. Do you have any more family members you could ask? Or any of FH's family?

Re: Bridal party Dilema
FBIL had 10 GM and FSIL only had 5 it was fine. No one cared about the difference. The BM and the MOH walked together than every one else was doubled up.

Re: Bridal party Dilema
at my cousins wedding she did not have the guys walk down w/ the girls.. instead the guys were all up in the front and the BM's walked in alone... just another way to do it if you are concerned about the overlap. otherwise just pair up two GMs with a BM..

Re: Bridal party Dilema
I totally understand why this would upset you. I was worried about have ONE more groomsman.
I think I would do as an above poster mentioned and invite them all over and talk about it. JMHO i think 14 is overkill. Maybe some of them could be in the wedding in other ways?

Re: Bridal party Dilema
Thanks for everyone's ideas..I do have another friend that I should've asked but I think its WAY too late at this point..I don't know why I didn't ask her.... we will prob end up pairing 2 guys and 1 girl cause I feel it's kind of ridiculous to ask the guys to back out...this is just so frustrating..I know FH wouldn't mind having the 7 guys back down but then I'll feel so stupid...

Re: Bridal party Dilema
Maybe you could have all the guys standing up there with FH already, and then have the girls walk down one by one.. I've been to weddings where its been mismatched and they did single file, guys first girls second and you never noticed that it was uneven

There's really nothing you can do at this point with only 4 months to the wedding. You can't 'kick out' BP members just because it's uneven.

Re: Bridal party Dilema
i would either have 3 guys walk down with 2 girls but you woul still have 2 left over, or tell a few of them exactly what is happening and take them out of the BP if your not that close to them to begin with, imo, they dhouldn't be in the bp to begin with. and i agree with the op, guys don't take this news as hard as girls do. i agree, i think it would look very uneven to have so few girls and so many men
