Bridal Party Input

Bridal Party Input

Did you/ will you pick out your BMs flowers without asking them for their input? Should I show them samples of what I like? I don't want to leave them out but I don't know if it is necessary...

What else do BMs help with in terms of decision making besides their dress, shoes, if they want make up professionally done?

Are they supposed to know every detail- or do you want to save some stuff as a surprise? I don't want to isolate anyone but I don't know if I want to give everything away...

the thought to ask my bridesmaids what flowers they would like never even crossed my mind. i don't mean to be rude, but i just never thought to ask them. i've told them what i'll be getting and haven't heard any complaints or anything...

as for everything else you mentioned, it's all up to you what you want to share and with whom you wish to share it.

i feel bad enough asking them to have their shoes dyed to match the dress, so other than that, i'm not going to insist on anything else.
they know what to do to look beautiful and i have no doubt that they will.

My sentiments exactly.

I just ran style of dress and color by them, that will be pretty much it...

I'll ask them to wear pearls and brown close-toed shoes. I think they can care less about everything else (not in a bad way, they just don't have the time and energy to fuss about these things as I do)...

Makeup they will take care of themselves as will I. I'll give them the option of hair (which they will most likely take) so we all kinda match.

JMO...

I let my bridal party have a say in their dresses...my girls had a wide range of body types, so it was important to get a dress that looked good on ALL.

I told them that whatever shoes they wanted to wear was fine with me...as long as they were dyed to match.

I did not ask their opinions on flowers...I felt that was a decision to be made by me.

I definitely kept a couple of things out of conversation as I wanted them to be surprises that they only saw the day of the wedding.

It's up to you how much you want or don't want them to have a say. IMO though, the more opinions you ask for, the more problems you may run in to.

Me too . . . I am letting them have a say in the style of dresses, shoes, and accessories, but not in theme or color scheme. It never dawned on me to ask them

If I was in your shoes.. and that would probabl hurt my feet... assuming you have small feet of course... lol..

seriously, looking for input sounds like a recipe for disaster because everybody has their own tastes. It's your day.. you should take the lead and make ALL of the BM decisions> and.. Pick out what YOU like!

I worked with my girls to find a dress they all liked, but the flowers? No, that is all me. FH doesn't even want anything to do with it. He said if I need floral opinions, I should bring my mother and his mother. My bridesmaids don't have in a say in my flowers. They aren't paying for them like they are the dress

Just ask if they are allergic to any flowers, and then just pick what you want. My friend jsut picked when i was her bm & she told me what they were before I saw them , but mostly b/c she loved was excited & wanted to tell someone.

You can ask one or two if you need help, its not neccessary.

As for hair & makeup- if you want to arrange it for them with them paying for it, then give them the option. If you want them all to get it done, then you should ofer to pay.
I just have 2, so I'll ask if they want it done.

Or if you just want them to handle all that on their own, then just tell them you aren't picky about hairstyles.
Most BMs look to the bride for the level of involvement she wants them to have.

Good idea, I will definitely find out if they are allergic to any flowers. As far as hair and makeup, I think I'll let them pick their shoes and dye to appropriate color. I can't afford to pay for 7 girls hair and makeup though, but I guess I will give them the option of using my people... thanks!!!

I sent my four BM's a link with about 20 dresses that I liked and asked each of them to send me their 4 most favorite. They all seemed to like all of them...and they all picked a couple of the same dresses - which works out nicely. We're actually going today to try them on! It is important to me to involve them - they want to be involved and I want their input. They are my closest and dearest family & friends.

I also asked them if they wanted hair and/or makeup done. They all said yes to hair, no to makeup. They'd pay for it - I'm not requiring it of them...but I intend on paying the tip.

As for shoes - they're wearing black dresses...I told them if they had black dress shoes to not bother buying new ones. They all looked at me sideways and said they were buying new ones. LOL

The person who knows the most, is my Matron - my only sister/sibling. But I'm keeping a couple of things a surprise even with her. (She's also a poster on the boards - parenting.)

Involve your BM's as much as you want to. There aren't any rules...just don't go Bridezilla on their as$es!

Have Fun!!!!!!
