bridal party pics

i had a question for those who are only having a tiny bridal party or just a moh and best man. personally i m torn between having just a moh and bestman or a big bridal party for several reasons. i love my friends yet at the same time i m the type of person who likes to prepare for a huge event alone. i cant imagine feeling calm while i have 4 bridesmaids getting dressed and done up while i m trying to take care of myself. i also feel like i want time to absorb the whole situation and focus on what the day is all about--my new hubby..yet then i feel torn b/c what kinda of pictures can i take with just a moh and best man..i do love the pics of a bride and her 'girls' all around her, yet i dont think i want the drama of buying dresses, dealing with transportation, more flowers...and the chaos of the pre-wedding stuff.. any opinions on what any1 else is doing??

I am only having my sister (MOH), his daughter (Jr. BM), and a Fg. He is only having a best man. I didnt want a large bridal party and to tell you the truth I would have left it as just my sister had he not had a daughter or g-ddaughter. I did hurt a few friends and his sisters feelings but this is truly what I wanted.

we have 5 people total in our bridal party. we were only going to have 4 but decided to ask his brother as well as mine. my girlfriend only had me as a maid of honor and we have great pictures of the two of us. they are absolutely adorable. i know what you mean about having too many people get ready arounf you. i feel the same way. 2 girls and my family shouldn't be too bad.

I'm only having a MOH and one Bridesmaid. FH is having his BM and then one GM. We like the idea of a small intimate bridal party and so we wanted to keep it that way from the start. I don't want the hassle of the arguing and and having to make such a large collective decision all the time. But I do agree that the pictures of all the girls are nice. You could still have pictures with your friends all around you - just because they aren't in the bridal party doesn't exclude them - KWIM?

It's definitely helpful to have people with you to help get ready on the big day but I agree that too large of a group can get confusing and frustrating. There are positives and negatives to both. Go with what you want.

I had three girls and he had 3 guys. To me it was the perfect amount. 5 out of the 6 were related to us and already had thier own weddings so they just GOT it. The 6th one was hubby's friend since 1st grade and he was very cool and understanding! Very much tell me where, when and how much. Many people asked me why my bridal party was 'so small' to me...it was exactly perfect and what we wanted in our hearts.

You can have a few girls for all the pictures and the parties and such, my advice would be to think about who you ask VERY carefully. ONce you have selected a few girls, be very open to them about costs, times and what you are expecting/needing from them in thier roll. It can be a little bit of a hard conversation but you will be glad you did.

Best of luck to you in your decision.

We're only having my sister(MOH) FSIL (BM) and her husband(GM) and FI's brother (BM) for the bridal party. We only wanted a small party so its less of a hassle dealing with friends that might be offended if not asked, etc. I know friends that did without the bridal party all together. As far as friends, you can take photos with your friends regardless if they are in the BP or not.

I am having 1 Maid of Honor, 1 Matron of Honor, a bridesmaid and Jr. Bridesmaid.
FH is having a best man, two ushers and a ring bearer.

I think a lot should depend on the size of your wedding. I think the rule of thumb is 1 usher per every 50 guests.

If you are nervous about getting ready with all of your bridesmaids, then ask them to get dressed at home and come to you all ready (or at least tell them to do their hair and makeup at home and only slip into their gown at your house)
