Bridal party problems

Bridal party problems

This is unbelievable. My daughter is the bride. She asked her Godmother and FSIL to both be MOH. She had two 'friends' as bridesmaids. They dropped out. Both had their own weddings around the same time & things got hairy. Anyway, FMIL talked my daughter into asking FHs Godmother (also his cousin, she's 42) and her 18 yr. old daughter to be in it. she told her they'd be honored, etc. This woman (the cousin) is a big mouth, but everyone insisted she would not cause problems for my daughter........well, my daughter chose a dress that would look good on anyone. Bill Levkoff, style 555(color sable). Check it out and let me know what you think. Her Godmother is a little heavier and theothers are thin. His cousin & her daughter wouldn't even go and try the gown on!! She said the gown is for people trying to 'hide' things and her and daughter have nothing to hide. They saw pictures and HATED IT. She gave my daughter an ultimatum- either you LET US pick a different dress or we won't be in it. My daughter said please try this one on first. She said NO. So my daughter had no alternative but to tell her to forget it. She was going to suggest that if she tried that one on and then didn't like it, they could look for something else, but after that ultimatum? She called FH and he asked her to call again to give her one more chance to at least agree to try on. She called this morning, gave her the opportunity and said no. She won't spend that much $ on two gowns and not be able to use it again. She said she showed the dress to her husband and friends and they say its UGLY. It's not ugly. FSIL didn't like it, but she went and tried it on and LOVED it. She called her cousin to tell her but couldnt' change her mind. So now she's down to 2 girls and 6 guys. She said she'd be there if she needed anything, they just wont be in it! FH is worried about how pictures will look! I said that they'll look fine. He can't believe his cousin is doing this but told my daughter not to give in if she wasn't willing to even try it on. He thinks the gown beautiful and doesn't know what she doesnt like.

****UPDATE; It turns out it's not about the dress at all. I think she was just using it as an excuse to get out of the bridal party! She told her aunt (my daughers FMIL) that she really couldn't afford to be in it. Then why the hell put my daughter thru all this? If she said yes and then realized she couldn't afford it, why didn't she just tell her? FMIL knows how her niece is, gets stepped all over by her but after hearing my daughters side, is certainly not siding with her niece. She understands completely why it ended up like this. The cousin is not upset or sad about it. She's glad to be out of it and honestly my daughter feels like a big load has been lifted. Thanks for letting me vent!! I knew things were going along too smoothly.

ABSOLUTELY leave the cousin and her daughter out of it. They were given enough chances.

Not worth the headache that these two are causing. Whatever gave dear cousin the idea that she could run the show ? Wait til her daughter gets married.

You could always have the GM walk down the aisle in pairs, the MOH each walk in separately. Photos will be fine.

A friend of mine got married and my partner dropped out of the wedding at the very last minute. I just doubled up with the BM and GM ahead of me - lucky guy got to walk down the aisle with TWO girls.

that dress is gorgeous!
I honestly would tell them to pi$$ of lol. Seriously, I'd rather have an uneveen BP and know that everyone up there is super important to us rather than just have 'fillers' so it looks more even in pics. Thats JMO tho.

That dress is beautiful. If they don't want to be in it that's their problem. They should have gone to try it on like FSIL and I bet they would have fallen in love with it. If your daughter can find other girls that she is close to to be BM that's great if not she shouldn't be worried about how the pics will look.

Re: Bridal party problems

Everything will be fine.

have just the best man/men stand up there with groom / others can sit up front.

have just moh walk down alone or with guys sitting in front row

pictures should be focused on groom and bride and other immediate family members

i personally do not like when the focus is on the entire bridal party anyway - as long as that is not the focus then an uneven party and the stress of this poor bride's situation with her bridal party will not 'ruin' the pictures.. .

hope that makes sense !

Wow, that is just so rude of them to do that. We are so sorry to hear about that. Everything will
work out and the very special day will very special and beautiful.

She doesnt need the frustration, I'm having a similiar issue with my FSIL and its going to end with her not being in the wedding party.
