My FH has a friend, his BFF since theyre like 8 years old. theyre so close that if FH didnt have a brother his friend would definitely be his best man. well, his bff is a groomsman and has been dating this girl for 3 years, almost the whole time FH and i have been together. she has been around for everything and we have become really good friends. i know we are only friends because of our men but whenever the four of us are together FH's bff's girlfriend and i are inseperable, we get along great and i consider her a good friend. so heres the question: would you ask FH's bffs girlfirend to be in your bridal party??? i am asking all my girls (my sister, cousins and Fhs cousin) to be my bridesmaids at our engagement party next month. she and i are really close, im just afraid.... what if they break up within now and the two years til our wedding????? (they do have a really great relationship though, and we're going on vacation with them in september) i really would love to have her but im scared if break up(theyre not engaged).. WWYD???????

Re: bridal party question
Wow... that's a tough one. Can you have her do something special like a reading in the church? Or something that allows her to be part of your wedding but not in the BP? That's what I would do.

Re: bridal party question
I agree with the idea of having her do a reading or something. And don't forget, non-bridal party members actually get to have a better time and wear whatever they want, so it's not necessarily a bad thing! I wanted one on each side, so all my girls could just enjoy themselves all weekend, but the FH had to push it so we stacked up the bridal party . . . . People love weddings even if (and sometimes most of all) they are NOT in the bridal party!!!
(sorry, crasher here)

Re: bridal party question
I think you should ask yourself: Would you still be very good friends with her even if they broke up? If yes, then ask her. If no, then don't ask her!

I think thats a great way to put it....I mean you also said that you only hang out when its the four of you. Do the two of you talk on the phone and go shopping or is it a couple thing only?

i like the reading idea. this way she can still be a part of the wedding somehow.

Re: bridal party question
I had the SAME predicament except with my FBIL and his gf have only been dating for 7months! Her and I have become so close over the past few months we go out every week with each other! We connected so fast you would think we have been friends forever! I was on the fence for 2 1/2 months before I asked her! I feel like I made the right decision by asking her. If they break up what is the worst thing that could happen?
ETA: You have to truly want her to be apart of your wedding. That's what I thought before I asked her and I went with my gut and I wouldn't look back for a second! Good luck and I hope this helps!

Re: bridal party question
how I would look at it is, will this girl and i stay friends if they ever did break up? If the answer is yes then definately go for it, if the answer is no or your not sure then it might not be a good idea.
Trust your gut though, you know whats right for your wedding...good luck!!

Re: bridal party question
thanks everyone, i think im going to ask her! i slept on it and i think that i really should worry about the 'what ifs' (thanks for the suggestion!!)
im going to ask her at the e-party next month, and if they happen to break up within the next two years we will deal with that then.
..ooo i forgot to add, i had FH talk to his friend and had him ask if he would be comfortable with me asking his gf. he said that she would love it and he sees them being together for a long time!
so problem solved! i have another bridesmaid!
thanks!!!

Re: bridal party question
I am laughing b/c FH and I met this way. His ex was in his brothers bridal party and she cheated on him at the bachelorette party 2 weeks before the wedding. I went to the wedding and he confessed how long he has been waiting for the both of us to be singe so we could go out...I was hooked from then! I understand how you feel, maybe you she ask her bf what he thinks. Ask him his opinion maybe they are going to get engaged soon....then it would be a sure thing to ask her.

Re: bridal party question
i think you should go with the idea of a reading. u have to remember that being in a bridal party is a big expense & some people feel obligated to say yes. plus u can always include her in bridal party things anyway.
