I'm letting my bridesmaids pick out whatever shoe style their most comfortable in, but it has to be the same color. I live out of state and won't be back up to LI until July, so we can't all go together to pick them out, so how do they go about picking out shoes that come or can be dyed in the same color? Should they get them from the same place? 1 bridesmaid lives in Albany, so that would be hard. What do you think?

Bridal party shoes...
In the bridal magazine I have seen a line of shoes called Dyables. I am sure they are available all over. Everyone can go and pick out the shoes and get the correct sizes. I would then ask your maid of honor to order them all together so they are in the same dye lot. I'll look up the phone number later and post it when I find it (I have a ton of bride magazines:)

I was a MOH in my sister's wedding. We dealt with the shoe issue by having all of the girls pick out their own shoes. When they go for the alterations on their dress, they can request a swatch of the fabric. They can take it to the shoe store, and have them dye it that color. I got my shoes from Parade of Shoes. Another friend got them from Payless (apparently both stores have decent selections of these kinds of shoes, and are very reasonable). Both shoes came out great, and matched each other.

I have been in bridal parties where both april&eric and christinec68's suggestions were done. I have been in another where we all got our own black shoes!
If you want your bridesmaids to have the exact color go with christinec68's idea. Another suggestion is Bakers. They seem to be all over and I know they use to have dyeables.
When we all went to separate places they were all close but slightly different shades of blue. (It didn't matter to the bride). If you do go with this idea, make sure if theycan't get the exact color that all go lighter or all go darker. (I think lighter is proper). We made that mistake. I got shoes at Parade and they didn't have the exact shade and my shoes wound up being the darker of all the others. Mine were more smurf blue and everyone else was pale blue.

I was in a wedding in July where we all picked out our own shoes. We brought them to the shower where the MOB took them and they were all dyed together to match the swatch.I plan on doing this with my bridal party too. One word of advice- make sure they all get the same fabric style (ie- satin or matte satin). You can notice the difference in pictures. You may want to explore on-line stores too, they have a huge selection!Maybe you could pick out a couple of styles and have them vote on their favorite.
Continued success to all...

I like the idea above about the MOH having them all dyed together. I will probably do that too. But my girls are all picking out their own shoes. Also, if the skirt/dress is floor lenght you will barely notice an slight difference in color. If they can wear black that is the best. Everyone can always use another pair of black shoes.
