HI, went to BR in Massapequa. Told her i cant spend more than 1.5K. Was shown a 2k dress (why ??) and I really love it. she said she will be able to work with me????
it is a marisa dress ...strapless, it will be tailored to add a halter around the neck.
she offered 2k including alterations...but still, if i only want to spend 1.5K, and alterations max out there at 245 dollars...I don't think it is low enough.
I will discuss with the manager...but i dont want to be ridiculous. I was told it was the LAST ONE??? Last one in the store???last one in america????
gosh...but i did love it so...and i cant stop thinking about it.
where should i go now? maybe I will find something LESS THAN 1.5k. HELP

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I just did a search for Marisa wedding gowns and some places came up that carry that designer, i just saw some really nice ones but i dont know what yours looked like to see if it was the same. Give it a shot maybe you can find it online cheaper.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
FYI. Bridal Reflections prices are pretty competitive with other stores. You may find it cheaper but not by much. Hopefully I am wrong. Keep looking. As far as the dress being the last one. It may be on the verge of being discontined. Manufactures are constantly turning over their lines of wedding collections.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
Do you have a picture? I've seen Marisa gowns all over the Internet and I know RK Bridal carries that line. But, if you want to get it at BR - speak to the buyer or manager. I went to a Renella de Fina truck show and was considering a gown that was $3300 - my mom spoke to the woman and they knocked it down to $2600. I didn't get that one, but that was the first time I learn you could negotiate with the bridal salons.
I am sure that Phyllis at Gownfind can get you the dress you want at a discounted price. The website is www.gownfind.com. Give her a call, she is located in East Northport, does alterations, and I have heard nothing but great feedback about her on the boards.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I got my dress from BR. I saw it somewhere else cheaper and told them, it was about $400 difference, they gave it to me for the cheaper price. I heard they had good seamstresses, thats why I wanted to get it there. So if you actually see it somewhere for a cheaper price, they would probably give it to you.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I got them to take off 10% and a few $ more FM me for details.
I also would call around and play other stores against eachother. Remember to ask $ for alterations and bustle at all stores for comparison.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I had a poor experience so I wouldnt hesitate to look around. They have a tendancy to not be the most organized bridal boutique around. One time that had me on hold, well they told me to hold on and put the phone down, so she could find the appointment book. It took her 15 minuts of yellig 'Where the hell is the book'

Definitely try contacting Phyllis from www.gownfind.com. Her number is 631-368-6462. I ordered mine and it was less than half of what I saw it for at other stores. I also my BM dresses from her.
She is great to work with.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
JMO i dont think you should have to negotiate prices on your wedding gown. I feel as if well if i didnt ask for a discount then i wouldnt get one? what is up with that? im sure you can find a better price on that dress somewhere else that are already discounted. Some places make you negotiate just to make it seem like you are getting a discount when you really arent.
good luck

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I purchased my dress at BR in Carle Place, and they definitely worked with me. I had a budget, but I ended up loving a Yolanda Couture dress outside my original figure. But... they worked with me, included the alterations, included my french bustle for free, and covered the extension of my train. All for a little less than the original price of the gown. I really lucked out.. maybe it's because I 'stalked' that gown for a long time and they wanted to get rid of me! lol... It also helps that I'm dropping more business their way with 9 bridesmaids! And they worked on that price too! All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by their customer service!

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
They were able to take 10% off of the price of my dress. Shop around, and if you find it for less, I'm pretty sure they'll match the price if not go a little lower.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I was also told by someone that used to work in a bridal shop that they typically included alterations for any dress over $1000, so you may not even get charged for alterations if you spent that much at some stores. It sounds like they were really trying to pressure you. I would shop around some more. I don't get the 'it's the last one' comment either.....

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
My bustle alone cost $250 at BR which I thought was crazy, I would still shop around if you know the designer and maybe BR can price match.

Re: BRIDAL REFLECTIONS ...Negotiations
I'm sure you can negotiate. But FYI, BR is having trunk show in two weeks. I believe the dates are 14-17 (most definately the 16th, I only remember that b/c it's my b-day).
