Most of our wedding guests wont be attending our bridal shower. The bridal shower invites will have our registry cards. So how will our wedding guests that arent attending bridal shower (all live in Florida) know where we are registered?? Some people have said I should of sent my registry cards with my wedding invites...is this right? (Too late now, invites have been sent) I know Macys can send my registry to my wedding guests and BBB notifies them via email but isnt there another way?

Re: bridal registry got me confused
A friend of mine had a baby shower in another state, and still sent me an invitation with her registry in it as well. She knew that I wouldnt be able to go, so I just bought the gift and had it delivered to her house.
Can you send them a courtesy invite? You can put the registry card in there.
But, if you did not invite them because you didnt want them to go... then it would be kinda rude to ask for a gift if you didnt want them going to your shower lol

Im asking for present for shower but for those that dont want to give money and want to buy a gift, how would I let them know? Some of FH family friends in FL want to know what we want as gift for wedding since they cant make it in APril for shower, thats why I ask. Im getting confused too!!!! lol

No, I meant to send like a courtesy invite. Obviously they wont come, but they will appreciate the fact that you invited them to your shower. If I didnt get a courtesy invite, I prob wouldnt send a gift lol
You can also post your registry on your wedding website and send out a mass email informing everyone that your wedding website has been set up. People will check it out and will see your registry on there.

well if they r asking you what u want then they r getting u a gift rather than cash im going to assume...im sorry i got confused just that every wedding ive been to people gave cash...anyways i would just have someone but not u tell them..maybe like fh mom or dad..i mean if they r the ones asking someone can tell them and imo that would not be rude

Re: bridal registry got me confused
well here in NY people dont buy gifts off of registry for the wedding normally, they give cash. For my wedding i didnt get any gifts off of registry except for a few who said no, they mailed a gift. Those who want to buy a gift or send you one will ask about it dont worry.
Registry cards do not go into wedding invitations, just shower invitations.

Re: bridal registry got me confused
I second the courtesy invite thing--FMIL and MOB are sending invites to some OOT people knowing full well that they can't come.
Any OOT wedding I've been to (I mean out of the tri-state area), people don't really give cash as wedding gifts. It's really weird!!!

Re: bridal registry got me confused
Weddings outside of New York are different. People give gifts off of the registry rather than cash. My friends from other states were shocked that NY does cash. As far as how you can get the gift info to them, I would just leave it. If they want to get you a gift, they will ask around about where you are registered. They can also go onto the major websites and type in your name and see if you pop up. It's pretty easy to find. Thats just my opinion... Maybe I'm wrong and there is a better way to do this?

I would invite everyone to the shower, u never kno, they may want to make the trip u could be surprised. Even if they don't, they may send a gift and either way they'll find out where ur registered.

OK; I am confused. You are not inviting all of your wedding guests to the shower, but you want a shower gift from them anyway?

I think its tacky to put registry info in your invites... It's like you making people get u a gift... If they want to give you something they would try to find out were you are registered... Word of mouth is the best way...

No. Read my post again. Those guests that are in Florida and Pa wont be able to make two trips down here, one on April for shower and one in June for the wedding, (they are from FH side) so obviously since i know they cant come for shower, I wont be sending them an invitation to my shower. FMIL had me wondering if there was another way to inform them of my registry since for some reason they hate giving cash for gifts. I could care less if I get a gift. Just trying to get info for the in laws side.

FH has a lot of family in Pittsburgh.. It is like a 10 hour drive from here and I know they are not coming to the shower but FILs told me to send them a courtesy invite. They know I totally understand if they didn't come but at least now they have the registry info if they choose to send a gift for the shower/wedding. Also, we didn't want them to feel left out... The same thought process applied to our wedding. We know some people who can't make it for various valid reasons but we are still sending them an invite so they know so they do not feel left out.
