what are must-register items?

dishes, glassware, silverware, and necessary kitchen appliances you don't already have - bakeware, pots and pans, mixers, etc

Oh, and don't forget about bedding!

Registry stores will provide a cheat sheet to help guide you as to how many you need/want to ask for, but you don't have to follow it.

You'll also need to register for bathroom towels and accessories. Bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths. And accessories like floor mat, toothbrush holder, soap dispenser, garbage pail, tissue box, etc.

Good luck and have fun!!

I loved Bed, Bath & Beyond and Macy's. BBB has a cash back policy if you return stuff that is on your registery. Either you get something new, BBB store credit or cash back - that is the deal. And your stuff stays on for 2 years, so family and friends can still buy off of it for holidays after the wedding is over. Macy's great sales, and they have a pretty good registery system too. Haven't had too much bad to say about either store. They do (both) give you lists to work off of and then you can add or delete online with both places.

Precisoustone - what is your hall's name? I was just looking at your albums and those pictures are gorgeous. Great place to have a wedding on the water.

Gorgeous! You are going to have a great wedding there. Great pictures too. Can't wait to see your pictures from your wedding.

I registered at BBB and Fortunoff and have been happy with both of them.

Some items that were 'musts' for me were:

Everyday flatware
Everyday glasses
Everyday china
Toaster Oven
Corningware
Pots
Microwave
Cutlery
Kitchen Utensils
Pyrex
Bedding
Towels

Most stores have a list of what they feel you should register for which helps as a guide.

Fortunoff was the best - they were so helpful and and thye had everything we needed. We even registered for furniture! what's the point of registering if you're just going to bring it back for cash??? fortunoff got us inot their rewards program and we get 5% back or something off all the items on our list - pretty good deal.

Good luck registering!

OMG, me too!

We did a non-traditional registry at Home Depot as well as a traditional one. I know it sounds weird but tools and a BBQ are for your house too!! We got an area rug, a patio set and a chainsaw

i highly recommend that you DO NOT register at bloomingdales. i've had nothing but problems with my registry there. they keep next to nothing in stock so if any of your guests try to buy something days before a shower, they're likely not going to be able to.
