Ok so I know many of us have them or will have them but anyone not like them?
How about before you were engaged how did you feel?
I love them!!!! I would much rather get a couple something they want and you do have the option of spending the amount you want as you can get many different items. There are some persons I have had to buy for that if they did not register I would not have known wanted this or that or had that color scheme, etc,

I personally find the concept of them a little obnoxious (buy me this!) but they are really convenient for both parties and since they seem to be culturally acceptable enough we went for it. it's so cool to actually get things you wanted
it's also fun to look up other peoples registries and peek
i find it interesting to see how so many people can register at the same places and pick out different things that suit their personalities

I love a registry. Some people don't know what to get you, so a registry is perfect...plus you get to pick and chose what you would want as a gift! And the good thing about Bed, Bath & Beyond is that say, later down the line - you realized that you didn't need the extra coffee pot, you could always return it for cash!

on some level it does but more and more people ask 'where did you register' rather than you telling them that you did

Re: Bridal Registry- Thoughts?
I love registries. Before my FSIL got married it was so easy to buy her and FBIL a Christmas present. I went straight to their registry and purchased something I knew they would like/want/use. It makes my life a whole lot easier!! I love them and can't wait to set up mine.

I love them!..for one (and i really hate to say it! lol) its shopping with other people's money..and it really helps to know we don't have to actually go out and buy all of that stuff with our own money (especially now being new homeowners) and the second reason...you get everything you want..instead of people picking stuff they like and risk you not liking it

I feel the same way. When we moved in together I got decent quality stuff but I put lots of really nice things on my registry to replace all of my current stuff with.

You know what . . . as a bride I think it will be fun to register for myself.
And it is nice to be able to get something for someone that you know they want and will like.
You know what . . . we should have registries for Christmas and birthdays!!

Re: Bridal Registry- Thoughts?
I like the idea of registries but I hate asking for gifts. I am probably going to keep the cost of things down. I've seen some registries that had a $200 silk bed sheet set on it. I couldn't do that.

Re: Bridal Registry- Thoughts?
My registry is mainly going to be for my shower, not the wedding, but in either event I don't think they're tacky at all. It's impossible to know what people have/need, especially if they're in their 30's like me and my FH and have nearly every single item you could possibly need for your home already. If we don't have it, chances are we didn't want one!!! So, picking actual items we need or actually just have overlooked makes it easier on guests and us (fewer returns), though like most LI weddings, I think the reception will be mainly envelopes . . . . . also easy.

Re: Bridal Registry- Thoughts?
Without a registry how would anyone get their china and coordinating pieces? I think they are a great way for people to know what to get you... I love them, both as a buyer off of registries and a register... it is super helpful on both ends

I think of it more as if you want to have ideas on what to buy me go here, instead of 'buy me this'

I think they are great. It's make the shopping experience so much easier. You don't have to spend an hour in the store trying to find something the person might or might not like.

Re: Bridal Registry- Thoughts?
Good point. I agree
I'd rather people get what I would actually use rather than getting stuck with more than one of the same item or something that never comes out of the box.
And I never thought of the china until you mentioned it. Hmm... I can't wait to pick out china!

i really like them.... i just don't know if they'll work for us. i foresee us moving a couple of more times before settling down somewhere we'll stay for years. i'd hate to get beautiful new things and have to store them because i don't have the space. or worse yet, not like them anymore when i finally can use them!
