So I've read in bridal magazines that placing your bridal registry with your invitations is not proper etiquette. They say if you don't have a website word of mouth is feasible. What are your thoughts or what did you do?

I think it's okay to put the inserts in shower invites (though some people also think this is rude), but I would NOT put them in with the invitation.

Bridal shower only is allowed to have that in the invitations because its expected. Its word of mouth or web or nothing at all!

i did inserts with my shower invites....not with wedding. i thought everyone did :)

You can include registry info with the shower invite but not the wedding invite. All of my registry stuff is linked to our website which is going on the STDs

Shower invites should just have the registry stated on the invitation. Wedding invites should not have anything about a registry... most people bring money anyway.. or at least we all hope they do. There is always one with that dreaded box lol

everything i have heard and read says its a no no for the wedding invites. you can ONLY do it for the shower. so i would stick with that.

i was always taught the showers are OK to have registry information because technically you arent throwing your shower. generally its a non-parent relative or friend - so its OK (ettiquette-wise) for them to suggest buying you gifts. however in a wedding (regardless of who is 'hosting') sending registry info implies that the couple is asking for gifts - not just your presence for the celebration, thus making it rude to ask your guests for gifts.
thats just what i have heard in the past - not necessarily my opinion..

I agree, registry info on shower invites only, I was always told that the reason for that was that traditionally the whole point of a shower was to 'shower the bride' with everything she needed to prepare for her new home
