Just want some opnions. on the Bridal Review chat forum. Someone replied to 'what do you think about russo's on the Bay' they said it was too SHOWY and they thought it was GAUDY'. Well I was very hurt and offended by this comment coming from someone who is having there reception at Russo's. I know it was said in the Bridal review forum but I think using nasty words like guady about russo's was quite hurtful to me, especially since i took a lot of time in choosing my reception venue.

Maybe for that poster, it wasn't her taste. I don't think she said it to hurt anyone.

It is a gorgeous place! People have said that about Villa's to me saying it was too 'Italian.' But I am half and take it is a compliment. ; )
Just think of why you LOVE it. That is all that matters!
We always tend to forget all the wonderful things people say about our vendors but as soon as one person says something negative we tend to forget all the good things.

I am sorry that you feel hurt by her comment. I too am getting married there. Her comment didn't phase me because, well, people have their own like and dislikes. She was being honest to a question that was asked. As long as you like the place, that is all that matters. Don't sweat it.

I use to get upset if I saw a bad review about a vendor I am using... but you need to know that not everyone will like all the same things... people have many different opinions... like that say...'one man's trash is another man's treasure'... I have seen bad comments about the Swan Club and I love the place... you choose your hall for a reason and that's all that matters... you are happy with your choice and thats all you should be concerned about...

I agree. She just answered a question that was asked by someone else and it didn't seem like it was meant to offend anyone. On the other hand, I saw your post after it attacking her venue and it came across as just spiteful.

I'll be honest. it was spytful what i said back, but i was not happy about it. i was annoyed when i read her reply and rushed to say something back

russos is beautiful and was my first choice. but i had to wait untill 2005 to get a jab 8th date that i wanted. you made the choice because you know how lovely russos is. the service is amazing and the food is the best i ever had at a catering hall. dont let what others say put you down.

Don't let it bother you. Everyone's got different taste. I've been to gorgeous weddings at places that I know wouldn't work for my idea of my wedding.

There was a question asked and answered. Everyone is entitled to their opinion . If we all had the same taste then there would be no reason for different types of venues, dresses,etc.

I am learning mor eand more that everyone has an opinion and its not necessarily correct. And I agree that sometimes certain adjectives could be left out....it can be hurtful or cause doubt..thats a topic thats been beated to death around here. But we are not all going to communicate the same (and thats something that makes it even more so interesting to visit LIW for me)
Anywho..I had a hall that was not as popular with many of the brides on LIW (but popular with so many other brides on L.I) and although the comments caused some insecurity would you beleive that the majority of my guests loved it and here I had been worrying for no reason. So take the advice that I should have..stick by your choices and disregard.

This is a forum for all of us to be honest about our opinions. It not fair to ask people to censor their opinoins for fear of offending people about their opinions on vendors. If you are going to be on a board like this, you have to have a little thicker thin and realize that everyone has their own opinions.
I am sure there are people out there who hate my dress or my hall or my taste in flowers and music- but that is fine. Everyone has their own taste and as long as no one is being personally attacking- there is nothing wrong with people having their own opions and sharing htem when asked.
