Yesterday I went shopping for my dress for the first time and I handled it better than I expected. There was one possible contender but I just couldn't commit. I'm a daddy's girl and wanted daddy's approval so we took a picture and brang it home to show him. When he saw it he liked it but it was missing that one thing. So my quest continues.
Can anyone give me recommendations on salons to go to in LI or Queens? Has anyone used The Wedding Plaza in Floral Park? The one designers dresses I'm looking at has a trunk show there in September so I'm thinking of going beforehand try on dresses and then go back for the trunk show to order.
Also does anyone know if any salons will allow pictures to be taken? Just in case my father can't make it I want him to be able to see it.

The wedding plaza is right by my house. It is definitely a no frills shop. Great designers (my designer, Pronovias, is there!!) but you probably won't get the 'royal treatment' there like you would at other salons.
I heard that Charisol in Bayside was a very nice salon. It's small and intimate and all of the attention is on you. They sell pronovias, enzoani, san patrick, and allure gowns

I found my gown at Village Bridal and I really enjoyed my experience there. I went on a Saturday afternoon and I was the only bride trying on dresses!
ETA: They do allow pictures there! The woman assisting me actually took photos of me since my mom is not very tech savvy

I went to the Wedding Salon in Manhasset and they were super nasty.. treated me like pretty woman ( for a 5-7K budget) ... ridiculous! I ended up getting my dress from Bridal Reflections in Massepequa and they all could not have been nicer!

RK bridal (no pics allowed, but we sneaked some) in the city was the first store I went to try a variety of dress & get the idea of what I wanted. I loved Wedding salon on Mahasset (my mom sneaked some lol), also Monica's bridal in BK (no pics allowed, and my mom wasn't able to sneak a pic lol)was great and helpful..and Lotus Bridal was where I found my dress (I was allowed to take pics since my mom ended up buying the dress there), so of course I had a wonderful experience there and Bridal reflections would've been my next stop..also Charisol in Bayside I heard was great! Good luck!!

I loved Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point (although it may be a little far depending on where you live). Candy was so sweet and nice!
Bridal Reflections in Massapequa was fantastic, I loved Jody and she pulled exactly the kind of dresses I was looking for. My budget was $1000, which was their starting price on gowns, and she didn't make me feel inferior at all. She worked within my budget, and I loved every gown she pulled for me, it was exactly what I was looking for and I was so glad she listened.
I found my dress at Village Bridal in Babylon. My experience with my consultant was far from pleasant (the store had just opened and it seemed like she hadn't had her morning coffee yet, she wasn't too helpful initially and we had to look around the store ourselves). However, after I tried on 3 dresses and described what I liked and what I didn't, she said she knew something I would fall in love with, and she ended up pulling the gown that would be my dress. Although I had a mediocre experience with the consultant, Village Bridal did have a good selection of dresses and you could check it out. All of the places we went to allowed us to take pics. Good luck!

I liked Brial Reflections in Massapequa & The Bridal Suite of Bayshore. Both of those places allowed you to take photos. I ended up getting my dress at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset (they don't allow you to take pics until you say yes to the dress)

I am shocked by this! My budget was $3000 and they could not have been nicer! Sorry you had a bad experience. I do agree that BR in Massapequa was great. We got our BM dresses there.

Also went to Princess Bridal in Farmingdale, I ended up getting my dress there. They were really nice but they don't allow pictures until you purchase the gown.
Good luck!

Did your dress come in yet? Also are you planning on getting alterations done there as well?
