OK...I still have a few pounds to lose, but I hear there is a wait to get appointments at some bridal shops...

Can you guys recommend some places that give great service, have a lot of dresses and hopefully in Nassau or eastern Queens...

I cut out one picture from a magazine and they list the following as places:
Je T'aime - Astoria
Bridal Suite - Bayshore
The Wedding Center - Commack
Wedding Group One - Flushing
Kayann Bridal - Franklin Square
Duet Wedding House - Huntington
Adrienne's - Islip
Bride 2 Choose - NYC
H & S Bridals - NYC
Jenesis - NYC
RK - NYC

Please Comment!!

Also - has anyone gotten Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid's dresses. I found a picture that all of my girls love as do I..

I have been to 2 or the shops you are asking about...Adrienne's and Bridal Suite in Bayshore

Adriennes was great. I didn't go to the brides cottage only the bridesmaids one. If my girls weren't such pains we would have gotten the dresses there. The dresses that they finally did pick were like $400 before alterations.
WE ended up at Bridal Suite of Bayshore and they have such a huge selection of wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, and Mother dresses!! The service we great and the dresses are in and they girls can start going for alterations!!

There was a thread on here a while ago about the Wedding Center in Commack from a bride that had a horrible experience. see if you can do a search and read it for yourselves.

Good Luck

Of the shops you listed I have visited two:

RK Bridal - you will be hard pressed to beat their prices and selection but it is a no frills experience. Go during the week or Very Early on the Weekend. I understand some brides on this site have been very happy with them.

Bridal Suite of Bayshore - Good selection, prices were reasonable. Have heard good things about them. My Mom got her dress there.

Adrians: My cousin used then and had a huge problem with them over alterations. She had sleves added to her dress and the fabric did not match. They also gave her a hard time over alteration charges even though she had a cap. She stuck to her guns and did prevail.

Im using Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. My first fitting was on Wed and so far all is well.

Happy Shopping!

Another vote for Bridal Suite of Bay Shore

We`re using Bridal Suite of Bay Shore for both my gown and the girls dresses. They have been very helpful, especially Gina, and I definitely recommend them.

Like Lisa Rose said, be careful with the Wedding Center of Commack. Definitely do a search on them here, and you may want to check with the Better Business Burea too. On a search, they have 4 complaints in the past 36 months, and 1 of those came in the past 12 months.

I ordered my dress from RK bridal in the city and the experience has been fantastic so far!!! I have my first fitting on Thursday.

One of my best friend's was in town last month and she wanted to see my dress, so I took her to RK bridal and everyone was so friendly and helpful to us, eventhough I have already ordered my dress and was not there for a fitting or anything!!

I've really liked the experience so far.

Good luck!

Warning-STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course I know that people have had good experiences at the Bridal Suite in Bay Shore, but I can not avoid adding my 2 cents. I have been there for 3 bridal parties so far. The first was fine, not outstanding, but fine. The second - only the bride got her dress there, we got our gowns at Rinadas where I felt that they charged $50 for a hem that was coming out before the wedding was over. The Bride who was getting her dress done there though had probelmes when she was supposed to be picking it up 2 days before her wedding. Somehow, they totally ruined the chiffon on her dress and she was in tears the night before her wedding as they tried to fix it. We are now going to Bay Shore Bridal Suite for my sister and I can not tell you how many things have gone wrong! One reason is that I won't be able to remember everything. First, the wrong gowns came in and the only reason that we noticed was becasue one of the girls was in from out of town and wanted to come for a fitting months ago. Not only was it the wrong dresses, (they at least got the color right) but one of the girls was a 10 and they ordered her a 14. So then as annoyed as we were at the time, we asked them to please make sure they get her a 10 this time. They get the dresses in and the same girl goes to get her fitting done and the dress is a 12. 2 weeks later another girl form out of town goes in and she is supposed to have a 12 and the tried to give her the 10. Hello??????????????? The place is horribly unorganized and no one takes the blame for anything. A few weeks ago a few of us went in for a fitting and we staggered the appointments purposely so that we could watch the bride (my sister ) put her gown on. She is supposed to be treated like a princess and they were shoving us off into different rooms to have our fittings done. At the same time they were making her bustle look horrible and it was very hard for us to give her any input. The other day we went back in there for pickups/ 2nd fittings. We all had 6:30 appts origianlly but 3 weeks ago my sister changed them to 4:00, 4:15, etc. After I got my dress on one of the ladies came in and said that Nicoles dress will not be ready until 6:30 because the seam stress didn't know that it was changed. There are too many people handling the smae situation. After they saw how frustrated we were months ago, wouldn't you think that they would take extra care? Absolutely not. I will NEVER go back there again!!

Again, I know that some people were successful there and I don't mean to be arguing with you but I felt that it might help someone in the future. I heard bridal suite in Centereach is good. ANy one have any feedback on that placE?

Bridal Suite in Centereach

I have dealt with them on many occaisions, and most recently for my own wedding. I have heard of people who have had trouble with them, but my experiences have all been relatively good. You just have to watch them very carefully, and know what you are getting. For example, I ordered additional material from the designer of my dress to raise my neckline (didn't want the 'girls' hanging out all night!), and was not given it until I asked. It should have been given to me at my first fitting. I kept waiting for the seamstress to mention that she was ready to begin working on my custom neckline (which was written in all capital letters on my receipt), and she never did. She just announced at one fitting that my dress was 'done'. I had to tell her to do the neckline, at which point she asked me if I had material, and told me that if not, I had to order it, which I had already done 6 months prior. Sheesh! : )
Just stay involved and don't be afraid to speak up and you should be fine!

I got my dress at Bridal Suite in Bay Shore. I only had one slight snag with the alterations. The hem was not completed all the way around by my second fitting because she had only pinned it halfway around. She was doing this to save time and should have finished the pins when I left. They went in the back and sewed it for me immediately. I felt that one of the tank straps was too tight at the third fitting. With the wedding in 10 days, she didn`t want me to come back again, so she fixed it while I waited. I couldn`t have asked for more than that. My girls had Jim Hjelm dresses they found at Bridal Suite, but we ordered them from Commack Wedding Center because they were much cheaper. We had no problems and the alterations went fine. They even ordered a flower girl dress for us a few weeks before the wedding. They said to pick what I want, and if the factory had the size we needed in stock, they could have it in 2 weeks for us. They got it in within a week. I would keep on top of them because of all the complaints I have seen on this board, but I never had a problem with them.

Bridal Shops - Try: Bridal Suite of Bayshore

Hi,
I was married in June and used Bridal Suite of Bay Shore. They were very accommodating and helpful. I had a lot of out of town girls in my bridal party and they made special arrangements for them. I purchased my gown, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dress and MIL dress there. I had so many compliments on my dress and all the girls dresses. My experience was pleasurable and everything worked out great. I was very happy! If you make an appointment try to ask for Maryellen, she found my dress and is a wonderful woman.
Hope everything works out. Congratulations.

I wouldn`t recommend The Wedding
Center...they ordered my sister
the wrong size then insisted that
she requested it!! Then they said
that she would have to order extra
fabric which would cost $168 (which
was more than the actual dress!!)

They also told me that would hold
my dress for me then after it came
in they said that I had to store it.

Overall, I wasn`t too impressed!!
