Bridal Shower

Okay, so I am a little annoyed. My FH and I just bought a house 2 months ago and will be moving in in about 4-5 weeks. I 'asked' or hinted to my BM's that I would prefer my shower soon since the purpose of a shower is to get things for the house. What is the point of having one when everything on my registry will be bought by the time of my wedding. (9/2) They refuse telling me that it is too soon to have one.
Am I being selfish?
