So, one of my BM's is getting married 2 weeks after me..in the DR. She asked me to be her MOH which means $$$. I think the rest of the BP lives in the DR so I don't think they'll be much help.
The QOTD: How can I throw her a nice shower without a lot of dough? I don't think it will work to do it at my house because I am in Suffolk and the majority of the guests live in Queens.
Any suggestions greatly welcomed. TIA

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
I don't know of one specifically... But there is a chain rest called China Buffet - There's one in Flushing (I just googled 'china buffet, queens, ny' and a bunch came up)..
I just meant that Chinese buffet places are usually inexpensive...
If you're only on at night Christine, I can post during the day for you and see if any Queens girl recommend one...

Jenn...I would so appreciate that! Yeah, for some reason the NYC Board of Ed blocks the chat forums. I guess they don;t want us chatting when we're supposed to be educating the city's best and brightest.

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
How many people are being invited and how much are you looking to spend.
Also you have to be careful with the cuisine you choese. I know Chinese food would not sit well with my family even though i like it.

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
I am thinking that it will end up being 30-40 people. Many of them will be Hispanic. I want it to be as cheap as possible, not that I don't love her, but because it will be so close to my wedding.

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
I would suggest checking out local restaurants in the area that she lives in or you can always try Pier 25A.
http://www.pier25a.com/cateringmenu/
The food here is very good and they give you alot. The price isnt that bad at all as long as you dont get open bar or anything.
Hope this helps you

Hispanics are picky eaters. How about you ask her close relatives to cook instead? they are used to cooking for big families.

And rent a hall? She actually doesn't have a lot of family here, both her and FH are from DR. But most of her friends and our co-workers are Hispanic.
Do you think people would be offended if I asked them to cook?

To be honest i would not ask people t cook if they are the guests. If she has a bridal party and they are willing to be involved then you should ask them. Otherwise i would not ask her friends and co workers to cook. I think that is rude and if i was asked i would be

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
If she doesnt have much family here then don't ask. Part of my family is hispanic. We have at least a few aunts that would love to cook for occassion like this. That is why i put the idea out there. But, since she doesnt have much family then this isnt an option.

Re: Bridal Shower $$$
what part of queens are her family in. I know a place in queens, an italian place that you can have a bridal shower. The prices are real good and the restaurant has its own party area. FM me if you want details. From what i remember the price per person is about $20-$25...they actually have a couple of different packages for you to choose from.
