Bridal Shower ???

Bridal Shower ???

Ok. So my family is on Long Island and his family is in Boston. So we actually are having to seperate (small backyard type) engagement parties to celebrate, one in Boston (which we had already) and one in Long Island (next month). My question is for the Bridal Shower what do I do? My mother is throwing it and wants it on Long Island since that's where my family is and she is paying for the majority of it. So do I invite his relatives and friends from Boston? The wedding is in Long Island too? I am torn. I want to invite them but I don't want them to feel obligated to make the trip down twice, or to feel that I just want gifts.
But I want them to feel included and not left out?

Any suggestions??

Its hard to make everyone happy, theres only so much you can do. Invite them to the shower and take it from there. This is a once in a life time event i am sure they wont complian about the travling, its a wedding and sometimes theres a little sacrifice. I am sure they will totally understand. Good Luck!

i think it's always better to invite them, rather than just assume that they don't want to make the trip. that way, no one's feelings get hurt

I've seen in the past where the bride and groom are from different states - they do 2 showers. If it seems like it might be difficult for many of his Boston relatives to come, maybe they can throw you a shower up there.

Obviously you can't really go to them and suggest they throw you a shower in Boston, haha. But discuss it with FH, tell him your concerns about making his relatives come down to Lond Island, and see if he thinks they'd prefer to have a small shower for you up there - nothing fancy, maybe in someone's house, or a bbq like you did for your engagement party.

If he tells you it's not a good idea, or if he tells you that he's sure they won't mind making the trip down, then definitely extend the invite. Like others said, if the people don't want to make the trip, they can always RSVP no.

Honestly, in my opinion, Boston is not that far from LI. If it was halfway across the country I would say that two separate showers may be appropriate, but for a 3-4 hour car ride...I think that is definitely do-able and not inconveniencing anyone.

I'd do it in L.I. and provide hotel information.

I would explain to FH that you plan on inviting them but you know it is an inconvience!
Let him be a buffer-
