Bridal Shower

My mother and sister are throwing me a bridal shower and have asked me for a list of people. I am trying to put the list together but am at a loss for who must be invited and who i dont have to invite. Do i have to invite every female who was invited to the engagement party? and where do i draw the line on both my side and his side? There are people on my FH's wedding invite list that i have never met and have no relationship with, do i invite them? and those people whom he is related to, do i have to invite their daughters if they are considered adults? I am at a total loss! i feel like i am going to end up cutting my own friend list because i know my mother is not financially able to do too large of a party and dont know who i must invite and who doesnt really need to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Re: Bridal Shower

I just invited family and friends and coworkers.

The people who aren't invited, like FH's bosses wives, who I don't know nor have I ever seen were not invited. If they want to send a gift, they will ask or find out through word of mouth where we are registered. I wouldn't invite women you don't know. I mean, they are invited to share in your wedding, but I think asking them to the shower would be a bit much. That is just my opinion, and that was how I went about making my list.

I had about 50 women at my shower, and they were mostly family, friends and coworkers..and that was it.

Re: Bridal Shower

invite your closest friends and closest family members from both sides. Also co-workers if you want but its up to you.

I invited my closest friends and of course this included all the females in the bp even FG and her mother, BUT also invited some of dh's friends wives and girlfriends but only those that i was friends with, didnt invite any of the gf or wives i didnt know well. Most of the wives and gf's invited were with the guys in our BP.

I dont have alot of family here so had my grandmother, cousins, and some of my mom's very close friends that I grew up with.

Dh's family is HUGE so we invited all his aunts of course, his grandmother, and first cousins. They ALL get together for special events so it would be an insult to not invite one of them since they do all keep in contact.

I think the total number i had for my shower was 65 guests

ok, but if i dont invite people from his side that were invited to the engagement party is that considered rude or wrong?

I don't think so. They were there along with their husbands/partners. They came as a date right? In my opinion, the shower is for close family and friends. I wouldn't really want to go to a shower where I didn't really know the bride.

it depends. I mean if its close family then maybe. But if its somebodies gf that you dont really know then NO its not rude. We had a few of dh's friends come to our e-party with dates that i didnt know well. Ive also been to e-parties where i didnt expect to be invited to the shower if i didnt know the bride well. Remember some guests at e-parties and weddings too, you know one person very well but might not know their date. I'll be honest and say that if i dont really know the bride, i'd prefer NOT to get invited to the shower since i wont know anybody and its one thing if you dont know anybody really but at least know the bride well, but if i dont know any of the other guests and dont even know the bride well then thats awkward lol.

I mentioned how most of our GM's wives and gf's were invited but NOT all. One of our gm's gf i dont know well. She is not usually around when we hang out and only met her a few times.

Re: Bridal Shower

I invited only close friends and family to my bridal shower. I had all my female cousins (I am close all of them), my Aunts, grandmother and then my closest girl friends. It was about 25 people in total.

I did not invite all women who attended the engagement party.

We are only inviting our family..and close female friends. I'm not inviting FH's friends wives or girlfriends if I am not friends w/ them. We also aren't inviting his cousin's wives (i never met them and he doesn't even really know them) ..also some of the women on FMIL's list aren't invited to the shower..she told me who NOT to invite to the shower from her list...

Re: Bridal Shower

U dont ahve to invite everyone who is invited to your wedding. If i did that i would have had 125 females at my shower. I kept it to close friends family & close FH family. I still have 82 people. ahhhh

this is my dilemma too- i wasnt sure if you invite every female that would be invited to the wedding and FMIL told me defiently NOT- that its only Close family and friends..... but i dont know where to draw the line.....
i think i'm gonna give FMIL the list for her side and then she can let me know who doesnt need to be invited to the shower......maybe you can do the same..
