For as long as I can remember, I have been telling my mother that I want a casual bridal shower in the backyard. This week she told me that isnt happening..she refuses to worry about the rain.
Then she proceeded to tell me that she wants to have it at the local chinese restaurant. This is sooo not what I want. And I hate to sound like a witch, but I just hate the idea. I understand how much my parents are giving us for the wedding and shouldnt complain, but cant help myself.
But here is the good news...FH is working on a restaurant (he's a carpenter) and asked the owner if they do bridal showers. The owner said he would give us the shower...in exchange for FH's work. I am so excited and hope this works out...b/c the restaurant is so much more my style than the ugly chinese restaurant (I hate the decor). My mom seemed ok with this since it would save her a small fortune.
Just wanted to share...

Re: Bridal Shower
I have no idea what my mother is going to have planned. It'll probably be somewhat laid back as she knows that's the kind of person I am. My gut tells me it's going to be at my sister's house. She has a huge house in Muttontown that can fit a small village My sister is also known for having all of her parties catered. Whatever they choose works for me, I'm not too picky about it.

My Mom's friend lives in Muttontown and offered her yard...which I would have LOVED. My mom is absolutely refusing to do it at a house. It's funny, b/c my sister's was at the house.

Re: Bridal Shower
i think the person planning the shower should really take into consideration what you would be most happy with. so if it does work out with your FH's connection, good for you!!
i really don't care where mine is or what my mom & sister decide to do. as long as its a surprise & i am not embarrased (lingerie line) i will be happy.

Re: Bridal Shower
My mom also refuses to do anymore backyard party, even though that's what I really want. She says it too much work and would rather just pay more money.
I told my mom that I would just like to know the date, they can surprise me with the place....if I have no where important to go I look like a hot mess!!

first of all, i HATEEEEEEEE chinese food.gag.
second of all, maybe you should talk to your mom and tell her that she needs to take you wants into consideration, after all, it is your shower...and arent your bridemaids supposed to be in charge of your shower?

My FH is an electrician...I love the barter system. LOL
My sister ended up bringing her bridal shower attire to what she thought was my birthday lunch so she was able to change. I hope she was suprised. I know I want to be suprised. Good luck getting me anywhere though!!

Funny thing is...I LOVE chinese food. I just dont want my shower there. LOL.
Yes, bridesmaids plan...but my mom wont take much from them...so it needs to be something within her budget. She;s already paying for alot, so I dont want her to go broke (which is why I liked the backyard idea).

Re: Bridal Shower
I think its fine to have a shower in the backyard. My aunt had hers at my grandmas. Just get a tent in case it rains.
I dont care really where my shower is, I just cant wait to open presents
