Hi everyone, I'm new to LI Weddings and have a bridal shower question that's been troubling me. So my FH has a lot of family from OOT. One of BM will be flying in from Texas and another from Florida. I am trying to find the best time to have my bridal shower.
I didn't want to do it too close to my wedding date because I figured things would be hectic. But at the same time most people would already be in NY for the wedding. If it were...say for example on the Thursday or Friday morning before the wedding...then almost everyone could make it (we are also planning the rehearsal dinner for either Thursday or Friday night before the wedding).
I thought about the Sat. before the wedding but figured I might need that day to get last minute things done. If I tell my MOH to have it 2 week to a month before then it will be hard for my OOT BM and some guests to be there.... Not sure what to do. Have any of you guys encountered this problem? If you all are control freaks like me and have to be involved in everything including the shower, when are you planning to have yours? Help? ........

Re: Bridal Shower???
thats a rough one but having the shower so very close to the wedding may be a bit too stressful. there are 9 million things that will sneak up right before the big day that you need to take care of and think about so you may not even completely enjoy the shower.. you might want to consider just having the shower earlier with the understaning that unfortunately a few people will just not be able to attend? good luck!

Re: Bridal Shower???
Would you consider having a Jack and Jill sort of shower and do it instead of a rehearsal dinner? My concern for you having a shower on a Thursday or Friday morning is that your out of town guests can make it, but what about your in-town local guests who will be working?
If you do have a shower a few weeks before, you can maybe try to have your bridesmaids each stream in through video chat for a few minutes if someone has a laptop they could bring to your venue. That's what we did for my grandparents' anniversary where my oot brother couldn't make it. Some of my bridesmaids won't be able to make my shower either because of distance but having a shower ahead of time is still a lot less stressful than having it just before the wedding and adding to the stress.

Re: Bridal Shower???
Thanks guys! Yeah having it even the weekend before seems close...much less the week of. The more I think about it the more I'm starting to believe that the earlier the better.
