No you don't have to. It can be written on the invite or you can just use the cards. I have no idea what my mom is planning on doing but I gave her the cards for both registeries.

from my snooping and reading my bridal shower invites which BTW have not gone out yet and the shower is the 22nd my mom just wrote where I am registered and didnt ask me for my cards.
For mine they just listed it on the invite, and all gifts given were straight off the registry. So it should be fine without.
My shower invites went out the 1st week of December (shower is on 1/22). From what I know it just says the bride is registered at bbb & macys. No extra enclosures just the directions to the hall.
