I've been invited to a bridal shower for my boyfriend's brother's fiancee. For various reasons, I will not be attending [1. i'm not close to the bride-to-be and don't know any of her friends/family; 2. i wouldn't be invited at all if i wasn't dating the groom-to-be's only brother; 3. i have a prior engagement i'd prefer not to cancel].
I'm not sure what to do about gifts. Should I send a shower gift anyway? My boyfriend and I were considering giving a large cash gift from the both of us -- should we split this between a bridal shower gift and a wedding gift? Should we send the gift ahead of time before the wedding, or wait until the wedding day?
This is only the second bridal shower I've been invited to. I know I wouldn't even be invited to the shower or the wedding if I wasn't dating my boyfriend, so I'm not sure what to do.

Re: Bridal shower and wedding gifts - questions
i would send a small gift to keep the peace, you will be dealing with the person a lot if it is your boyfriend's brother's fiancee.

I would send a gift of the registry, but normally, this is separate from a wedding gift. Keep it small if you will not be attending the shower, and then you and your boyfriend can give the cash gift for the wedding.

I would send her a gift off of the registry for the shower - to be nice. And still give them the cash gift for the wedding.

Thanks all. Seems to be pretty unanimous that I send a small gift off the registry.
